If you're visiting Kansas City with your children (under the age of 12) and are looking to save money on eating out with your family, you're in luck! Many fine eating establishments around Kansas City provide nights and evenings when kids can eat for free (or practically free) so you can better budget your family vacation.

In most instances, kids eat free off the children's menu with a purchase of at least one adult entree unless otherwise specified, but in some cases, the restaurants merely offer a discounted child's meal on special nights.

Still, most days of the week you can visit IHOP, McAlister's Deli, or O'Charley's and get a discount or free meal for your child with the purchase of an adult meal—just remember to always tip your waiter based off of the total price the meal would have been if your child's meal wasn't free!

Please note that all Kids Eat Free programs, prices, and details listed are subject to change without notice. If you're relying on a free or cheap meal for your child, you should call in advance to confirm participating restaurant details in order to avoid any unexpected costs.

Wednesday nights are great nights for families to visit Pepperjax Grill, Chartroose Caboose, Zarda Hickory Pit Bar-B-Q, which each also offers a discount or free kids meal with the purchase of an adult meal, and on Thursdays, take your family to Hy-Vee Market Grill, Firehouse Subs, or McAlister's Deli for the same deal.

There only options on Fridays are IHOP and McAlister's, which are also available on Saturday (along with The Other Place). On Sundays, you can visit these as well, but you should check out some local spots offering free or cheap kids meals like Sunset Grill, SPIN Pizza, Talk of the Town, Melting Pot, Pie Five Pizza, The Rub Bar-B-Que, Rancho Grande Cantina, La Mesa Mexican Restaurant, and Tommy's.
