With airport security getting stricter and stricter, traveling with basic toiletries can seem like quite the hassle. But with TSA-compliant bags like the Keokee Clear Toiletry Bag Set, it doesn’t have to be. The compact carrying cases adhere to the TSA’s 3-1-1 rule, offering users just enough space to store their 3.4-ounce (or 100 milliliter) liquids, aerosols, and gels—like shampoo, hair spray, and shaving cream. Design and Portability: Sturdy, stylish, easy to stow

This TSA-compliant set is made of PVC and nylon, making it super durable and easy to wipe clean in case of a spill or leak. The distinct plastic feel also helped us locate the pouches when blindly reaching into our go-to airport tote. We found the double-stitched zippers very durable, but were a little disappointed to see that they’re not fully waterproof. While we’re pretty certain they could hold in viscous liquids like conditioner, we’re not so positive they’d perform as well with a leaky bottle of mouthwash or micellar water. 

The set includes two clear storage bags: one 8 x 5.5 x 2.5-inch bag and one 4.5 x 3.5 x 1.75-inch bag. Note that the bags are completely see-through, so all of your items are visible from the outside. This may be a concern if you’re looking to store personal items, money, or personal documents. If you buy a few sets for your family, you can distinguish between each person’s pouches by choosing different zipper colors. The clear set has a few different zipper options, including black, purple, pink, blue, gray, red, and green. 

While the two-piece set may appear limiting at first glance, the bags can be filled to the brim if packed well. We started with the larger bag, filling it with essential bath and body items like shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste, and were surprised to see just how much we could fit. Of course, to follow TSA’s 3-1-1 rule, you’ll need to purchase travel-sized toiletries or buy a reusable bottle set and fill them with your favorite formulas. If you’re driving to your destination or open to popping the set in your checked luggage, you can fit two to three regular-sized bottles when placed horizontally. 

As for the smaller of the two bags, we found it most ideal for small knick-knacks like contact lens cases, jewelry, nail clippers, tweezers, hair ties, and smaller bottles of essential oil and hand sanitizer. If you’re traveling with children, you could also use the bag for items you want to keep close at hand, like pacifiers or boarding passes and passports for the whole family. 

Outside of travel, the set still has many uses. We used it to declutter our purse, storing items we regularly have to fish around in the bottom of the bag for, like our iPod, headphones, phone charger, and lip balm. We could also see the set being used to organize a diaper bag, clean up a backpack, or protect small electronics at the beach or pool.  

Price: Definitely worth it

Whether you’re jetsetting every other weekend or just looking to declutter your purse for runs to the grocery store, this set is a worthwhile investment. With clear PVC construction that’s easy to clean and double-stiched, durable zippers, the bags are sure to be in rotation for years to come. 

Competition: Many similar bags to choose from

Lermende TSA-Approved Toiletry Bags: Like the Keokee set, Lermende’s offering comes with two transparent bags that are 3-1-1 compliant. Rather than a small and large bag, though, this set comes with two 7.7 x 5.9 x 2.5-pouches. These are constructed of easy-to-clean PVC and feature waterproof, corrosion-resistant zippers to really protect aganist spills and leaks. You can choose between black, clear, blue, grey, purple, red, and green zippers. The set will run you $12—a few dollars less than Keokee’s set. Note that these bags do have travel icons—an airplane, TSA checkmark, and toiletry bottles—so if you intend to use them for non-travel purposes as well, you may want to opt for Keokee’s plain bags. 

GLOBEGEAR Travel Bottles and TSA-Approved Toiletry Bag: Guess what? Like the Keokee and Lermende sets, GLOBEGEAR’s travel toiletry bag is also constructed from clear PVC and offers reinforced, leak-proof zippers. Where this bag diverges, however, is in its inclusion of 3-1-1-approved containers. The travel kit comes with a pump bottle, spray bottle, soft tube, two jars, and two disc-top bottles. Even better, the manufacturer includes a mini spatula, pipette, and funnel to help you transfer your favorite toiletries from their full-size bottles, as well as a pre-printed set of 18 labels so you always know what you’re reaching for. If you’re the type of person who wishes they could bring their whole beauty arsenal, it’s certainly worth investing $15 in this kit so you can bring a bit of everything along.
