What is Keep It Local OK?:
Launched in early 2010 by Oklahoma City businessmen Bryce Bandy and Chris Branson, Keep It Local OK is an organization dedicated to promoting locally-owned and independent businesses. The group's goal is to boost awareness of local establishments and strengthen the community economy by urging local shoppers to spend their money at Oklahoma businesses. To that end, Keep It Local OK provides online business profiles and advertising to member merchants as well as an annual discount card for shoppers.
What is a Keep It Local OK card?:
A Keep It Local OK card offers special discounts at participating local shops and restaurants. Available each year, the discount card costs only $15. There are no limitations on how many times it can be used, and it provides significant savings. For example, receive 10 percent off services such as oil changes or salon services, get free dishes or drinks at restaurants, enjoy cash back at financial institutions or take 15 percent off your retail purchases. The options are numerous, varied and unique, the card certain to pay for itself in no time at all.

If you are a business owner and with to purchase a membership with Keep It Local OK, the first thing you need to know is that it is restricted to locally-owned businesses, meaning that the owner or the majority of the owners are Oklahoma residents and the majority of the outlets are in state. Also, the business has to be registered in Oklahoma and can't have an out-of-state corporate headquarters. Finally, the business must be independent, defined as those in which the owner has full decision-making authority and pays all expenses without help from a corporate headquarters.
