Kansas City’s nightlife and entertainment have grown a lot since the growth of its downtown Power & Light District in the early and middle 2000s, causing a lot of the other entertainment districts around the metro to step up their game. This is great for brides-to-be and their friends that want to have a fun night out before the wedding. Below are some great areas around Kansas City that are great for bachelorette parties.

Power & Light District

There are a variety of bars and nightclubs in their area, from sports bars like Tanner’s to clubs that allow for dancing, like Mosaic. The P&L district is one of the priciest places to go out, but some bars offer discounts for large groups, especially if they know you are a bachelorette party. It doesn’t hurt to ask!

Hamburger Mary’s

This burger joint is a well-known drag show stop (their Sunday drag brunch is especially popular), so it’s a fun place to kick off a bachelorette party with casual food in a great atmosphere. The restaurant is near the Crossroads district and is also nearby some of the local gay bars like Missie B’s, which has weekend drag shows and features two dance floors with a low cover charge.

Westport is one of Kansas City’s most well-known going out spots. It’s full of groups of all ages and styles and has tons of bars that fit anyone’s style. There are a few bars that offer a dance floor, but low-key bachelorettes will appreciate the variety of bars that have good drink specials and a fun atmosphere. Ernie Biggs, the piano bar, is also a great bachelorette party destination.

Country Club Plaza

The Plaza is great for the young professional crowd that wants a mixture of amazing food and high-class bars. There’s also a bunch of great hotels nearby, which is great for bachelorette parties that have a lot of out-of-town guests. Start with dinner at Jack Stack BBQ or Chuy’s and scope out the many bars and eateries for drink specials during the weekends.

One Block South

This entertainment district is great for parties that don’t want to travel downtown. Located in the heart of Johnson County at 119th and Metcalf, paying one cover charge gets you entrance into four bars, each with a different atmosphere: country, billiards lounge, rock and roll, and 90s-current DJ dance club. Taxis are plentiful and being able to walk between bars offers a lot of variety for such a small area.

Neon Wild or Funkytown

These two music-themed bars offer an experience no bachelorette is sure to forget. Neon Wild focuses on playing late 80s to early 00s music, while Funkytown loves disco and the 60s-80s. They are both located in North Kansas City but are also fairly close to downtown. Combine that with low cover charges and great drink specials, these two bars are perfect for bachelorette parties that want to dance the night away. (P.S. Funkytown is cash only, but has an ATM inside.)
