Katherine is the Caribbean Expert for TripSavvy, where she reports on culture, news, and events for every territory in the West Indies. She's visited 15 of the 18 independent island-nations, and it is her goal to travel to each one (as well as all 7,000 islands, when she's feeling ambitious).

So far, her Caribbean travels include Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Curaçao, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos, and the US Virgin Islands.

Her passion for the West Indies is rooted in her admiration of the unique culture and heritage of each island she's visited, as well as the kindness and hospitality of its people. (Not to mention the music, the jerk, and—most importantly—the rum.) Katherine is devoted to showing readers that there is more to the Caribbean than just the beach—though those are spectacular as well, of course.

A freelance culture and travel writer, her work has appeared in Forbes, Architectural Digest, The Daily Beast, The Week, and Business Insider. She has traveled to 63 countries and all 50 states but calls New York City home.

She has been interviewed about her travels throughout Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean for publications, podcasts, and radio shows.

Her writing has been translated into French and Arabic and she's been profiled in the Huffington Post, Le Diplomate Tunisien and the Economist Maghreb about her reporting on the Barbary Coast.

Katherine earned her master’s degree summa cum laude with honors in creative nonfiction from the New School, and her bachelor's degree with English Honors from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. She was awarded the John Milton Potter prize for future promise as a scholar and writer.
