Kara holds a bachelor's degree in English from Dartmouth College. She is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), the nation's leading professional organization for travel writers. Awards include the 2012 Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award for Best Travel Blog for The Vacation Gals, a blog she co-owns with two other travel writers
