Welcome to JW Marriott Las Vegas
This inviting upscale resort likes to call itself “the best of both worlds.” It is dramatically perched in the sun-warmed hills of a Las Vegas suburb, but is still within easy reach of the clamorous, glamorous Strip.
Vegas visitors considering this resort must be aware in advance that the Strip is a 20-minute shuttle ride away. The bus is free for resort guests, but lacks late-night hours. While the resort has an in-house casino, the bottom line is that this hotel does not provide an on-the-Strip experience.
What the JW Marriott Las Vegas does furnish is a low-key, dignified getaway in the desert sun, with the Strip as one of several recreational options.
The resort provides top-quality hotel amenities and attractions. Rooms are large and well-appointed, grounds are lush, maintenance keeps the property spotless, service is warm, and the resort’s restaurants and spa are excellent.
The JW is an inspired wedding venue for brides who like the idea of convening their loved ones for radiant desert nuptials close to the alluring Strip, but with none of Vegas’s “Chapel of Love” tackiness.
This property is also a good choice for lovebirds seeking an easy to get to escape that offers privacy, charm, cushy rooms, intimate restaurants, golf, spa: all the things that make him and her happy.
Another sensible approach to the JW is to do Vegas both ways, and arrange a couple of revivifying nights at this resort after a whirlwind stay on the Strip.Continue to 2 of 10 below.

Guest Rooms at the JW Marriott Las Vegas
The JW is built in red-roofed Spanish-Mediterranean style, which suits its scenic, sun-baked surroundings.
Landscaping is opulent, with emerald lawns and ample desert and tropical flora including fragrant rosemary hedges. Soothing mini-waterfalls scattered about create lovey-dovey outdoor nooks.
Lobbies and hallways are large-scale, with high ceilings, handsome Aubusson carpets, and potted palms.
The six-story Palms and Spa towers hold a total of 548 well-proportioned rooms and suites. Their style is classic, with comfortable furniture and an earth-toned palette.
Basic rooms are a generous 560 square feet. Standard amenities include plush, come-hither beds; viewing balcony; fridge; complimentary spring water; in-room safe; robes; and email-equipped large-screen TV. Rooms feature views of glowing Red Rock Canyon or the Las Vegas Strip in the distance.
Bathrooms are huge marble affairs, with dual sinks, a whirlpool tub, thick towels, a capacious rainfall shower with bench, and a toilet partition with phone.
The JW’s 55 one- and two-bedroom suites are enormous, with extras such as a bar counter, bidet, dining area, and an additional TV in the living room.
There are several cheerful concierges, including one just for golfers. Self-parking is free.Continue to 3 of 10 below.

Dining at the JW Marriott Las Vegas
The resort’s eateries are varied, and good enough to keep guests from straying off-property.
Ceres Restaurant serves buffet and a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Its outdoor patio faces a serene mini-waterfall. Ceres’s somewhat plain interior is more than redeemed by outstanding cuisine. Carnivores will be thrilled by the chef’s tender, mesquite-grilled rib-eye steak, and his Colorado rack of lamb is not silly baby chops but meaty slabs.
Fanciers of Japanese food should not miss elegant, authentic Shizen, whose moonlit outdoor tables beckon on warm nights. Diners can go for dishes cooked at the table by a personal chef or for exceptional sushi creations that please the eye and palate. A selection of sakes comes by the glass or flask.
Spiedini serves master chef Gustav Mauler’s Northern Italian fare. The ristorante is alluringly decorated with fiery red touches and circular tables, railings, and lamps. Seafood is a specialty, and earthy duck risotto delights hungry gourmets.
J.C. Wooloughan is a realistic Irish pub with good bar bands. It serves up plump, juicy burgers; house-made soups and stews; and has many brews on tap .
The on-premises Ramparts Casino comprises a buffet, a casual café, and an upscale restaurant, The Carmel Room, done in velvety Gold Rush style.
Several bars, the Plush Lounge nightclub, Cigar Lounge, Starbucks, a poolside eatery, and room service round out the JW’s dining choices.Continue to 4 of 10 below.

Destination Weddings at the JW Marriott Las Vegas
Guests invited to witness marriage vows at the JW may think they’re going to a typical Las Vegas wedding. But the bride can expect her nuptials to be considerably more manageable and refined.
This resort is a tranquil alternative to chapels on the frantic Strip, and the same goes for weddings here. For starters, at no point will the bride’s party or guests have to traipse through a casino.
The JW’s well-staffed events department offers planning assistance with every bridal detail including customized ceremonies, flowers, menus, cake, music, and videos.
Brides have a plethora of indoor, outdoor, or combination wedding venues to choose from. Many ceremonies are conducted on the resort’s two relatively secluded lawn areas. They offer seating for up to 300, lush landscaping, Red Rock Canyon views, and a vows gazebo or vaulted archway.
The resort’s indoor venues can be intimate, such as the stone-walled Lodge on the Lawn and the palatial Suite 6200. Or they can be very major. The Valencia Terrace can accommodate up to 1,500 revelers, and four ballrooms can comfortably handle about 1,000 of the couple’s nearest and dearest.
A classy choice for medium-sized weddings of 100 to 200 is the Parian Room, sumptuously decorated with rich damask and mahogany that recall a robber baron’s mansion.
Brides and attendants can take advantage of Aquae Sulis Spa services including in-room hair and makeup.
Discounted group rates for 10 or more rooms may be available.Continue to 5 of 10 below.

Things to Do at the JW Marriott Las Vegas
The JW’s Ramparts Casino has slots, table games, a race and sports room, leggy cocktail waitresses, bars, a buffet, and the fine Carmel Room Restaurant. Ramparts is less smoky and frigid than many casinos, so guests can wager comfortably here.
The hotel's undulating pool is a pleasure, with a lap section and cool water that is lightly salty, not chlorine-saturated. French Riviera-like poolside cabanas, rentable by the half-day or day, have TVs plus bar, café, and pool-boy service.
There’s a guest gym and a fancier spa gym. It can be used for an extra fee or on a complimentary basis for spa patrons.
A golf concierge can arrange rounds at any of the area’s 11 courses.
Other local recreational opportunities include hiking or trail rides in dazzling nearby Red Rock Canyon. Guests seeking to explore Las Vegas’ vibrant desert environment and man-made wonders are well-served by Adventure Photo Tours. Their reasonably-priced outings in four-wheel drives combine personal attention, insiders’ knowledge, and spectacular sights.
Visitors with shopping on their agenda can take the JW’s shuttle bus to the Strip, which parks at the Fashion Show Mall.Continue to 7 of 10 below.

Aquae Sulis Spa at the JW Marriott Las Vegas
Named for the Roman spa town that became Bath, England, the JW’s Aquae Sulis Spa tempts with face and body treatments and an array of pools and tubs.
Its waterfall-bordered hydro-circuit pool has numerous hydrotherapy bays with body-targeted currents and jets.
The state of Nevada requires extensive cosmetological training, and service here is highly professional. Facials, body scrubs and wraps, individual and couples’ massages, airbrush tanning, waxing, and men’s and bridal treatments are performed in 36 treatment rooms. The enticing Bridal Body Shimmer includes a massage using gold extracts.
Locker rooms are relaxation stations with hot and cool tubs, dipping pool, cascading and conventional showers, steam and sauna. Spacious dressing areas provide juices, infused and bottled water, reading and tanning lounges, changing booths, and hair and makeup counters.
A separate salon handles cuts, color, styling, makeup, and manicures and pedicures. Some salon and spa treatments are available in guest rooms.
A spa shop sells pretty jewelry, accessories, and unusual bath and beauty lines. Its staff happily helps brides choose wedding-party gifts.
The spa’s airy gym contains weights, circuit systems, and cardio machines with personal screens and headphones. Spa patrons enjoy free same-day gym use. This includes fitness classes like belly dancing or “core board” in a sunny mirrored studio. There is a fee for spa gym access and classes for hotel guests without spa appointments.Continue to 8 of 10 below.

Things You Should Know about the JW Marriott Las Vegas
The key difference between this resort and others with “Las Vegas” in their names is that the JW is 20 minutes outside of central Las Vegas. This makes it a poor fit for high-spirited vacationers eager to party on the Strip.
The JW does offer a casino, busy restaurants, bars, and clubs. But nightlife is merely one option at this full-service resort; it’s not the place’s raison d’etre.
The Strip’s hijinks are a free shuttle bus ride away, but the bus does not operate after around midnight. The coach will not turn into a pumpkin, but it does saddle JW guests who stay on the Strip with a hefty wee-hours taxi or the necessity of toking a valet-parking attendant.
Better reasons to lodge at the JW include the chance for romance in well-appointed rooms amidst the sun-burnished Nevada landscape, with good golfing nearby, delicious dining, a superb spa, and a Strip visit or two as an option.
Some JW guests drive from Arizona or Southern California, and self-parking is complimentary. Car rental is not necessary for visitors who fly in. The resort arranges airport transfers, and its free shuttle bus takes care of Strip visits except late at night.
There are some, but not many, children in evidence at the JW. This is not primarily a family resort, which is nice for lovebirds seeking seclusion and toddler tantrum-free meals. However, wedding guests who bring kids to nuptials here will not feel out of place.Continue to 9 of 10 below.

Is the JW Marriott Las Vegas Right For You?
This resort is ideal for visitors who see its 20-minute remove from the Las Vegas Strip as an asset, not a compromise.
If you are dreaming of endorphin-fueled gambling and carousing on the Las Vegas Strip, this resort’s location will surprise and disappoint you.
However, the JW is a promising bet if you are intrigued by an amorous getaway or destination wedding at a gracious resort closer to sunset-flamed Red Rock Canyon than to the neon-lit Strip.
It looks even better if your “must have” list includes splendid restaurants, a terrific spa, nearby golf, warm service, and a big, inviting room with a bathroom built for two.Continue to 10 of 10 below.
