The Fortune 500 is an annual list compiled by Fortune magazine that ranks the top 500 U.S. corporations as ranked by their gross revenue. Some of the Fortune 500 corporations have headquarters here in Arkansas. As a matter of fact, Fortune's number one corporation for 2015, Walmart, calls Bentonville, AR home.  Walmart has held the number 1 or 2 spot for almost a decade.

There is actually a lot of big money in Arkansas, and many hiring opportunities that can lead to advancement for motivated employees.

    Walmart (NYSE: WMT) is all about offering bargain prices and large selection.  Jobs for Walmart range from door greeter to positions at corporate headquarters, and positions are located all over the world.

    Tyson (NYSE: TSN) is the world’s largest provider of chicken, beef and pork products.  They export the largest percentage of beef out of the United States.  Tyson is second-largest food production company in the Fortune 500 and the second largest meat producer in the world.

    Murphy Oil USA (NYSE: MUSA) and Murphy Oil (NYSE: MUR)  hold two spots on the Fortune 500, with the USA company being hired ranked.  Murphy Oil Corporation is a worldwide oil & gas organization.  The company also has operating offices in Houston, Texas, Calgary, Alberta, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    Dillard's (NYSE:DDS) is an upscale department store chain. They have over 300 stores in 29 states.  Dillard's employees everyone from store clerks, to managing and shipping and systems support here in Little Rock.

    J.B. Hunt (NYSE: JBHT) is a trucking and transportation company. J.B. Hunt primarily operates large semi-trailer trucks, and provides transportation services throughout the continental United States, Canada and Mexico.

    Windstream (NYSE: WIN) is a broadband and telecommunications company. They spun off of Alltel Wireless in 2006.  They are partnered with DISH Network.

    Baldor Electric Company (NYSE: BEZ) markets, designs, and manufactures industrial electric motors, mechanical power transmission products, drives and generators. They were originally founded in Saint Louis, but moved to Fort Smith in 1967.  They fell off the Fortune 1000 list, but they're still worth checking out.
