  • Jenny Adams is a full-time freelance travel writer and photographer who splits her time between New Orleans and Southeast Asia. She frequently focuses on great places to grab a drink or dinner when traveling and has been working in editorial for nearly 20 years.
  • Jenny’s words and images have appeared in more than 50 magazines, and she’s a frequent contributor to Conde Nast Traveler, Hemispheres for United Airlines, and Garden & Gun magazine.
  • Jenny has several photography exhibitions around the city of New Orleans and is represented by the Where Y’Art Gallery, located in the Marigny neighborhood.

At the beginning of her career, Jenny was the editor of a national trade publication for the bar industry. She was then employed as a copywriter for several beverage brands. She continued her studies in distilled spirits, taking multiple trips to Mexico with agave spirit producers, venturing to Scotland with whisky distillers, and annually attending and speaking at multiple food and beverage conferences. She currently still attends several, as well as travel conferences, including the Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, Travel Classics, and Wanderlust festivals.

She transitioned to full-time travel writing in 2007, subsequently enrolling in classes at the School of Visual Arts in photography in New York City. Jenny was the bar columnist for the Miami Herald for eight years, reporting on great drinks around the globe for their travel section, and she also held the title of editorial director for three years for a luxury subscription box called Vices. Her role there included producing the copy for a 50-page magazine each month, as well as all in-house photography.

For the last 15 years, her freelance career and focus on travel have given her the ability to split her time between America and Southeast Asia. She’s lived in and reported from several countries abroad, including New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia. Her expertise on Bangkok in particular has made her a sought-after reporter on the Thai capital, with stories ranging from Conde Nast’s annual list of Best Hotels to food coverage for National Geographic Traveler.

Her coverage now ranges from in-depth personality profiles to architectural design features to off-the-beaten-track adventure reporting, and she reports with equal gusto on the Southern USA, living in the French Quarter, with a small black cat and her fiancé, Chris.

Jenny Adams holds a B.A. undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston in corporate communications, with a minor in Eastern religious studies. She enrolled in the graduate journalism program at the University of Mississippi in 2004 but departed after her first year in order to take an associate editor role at a national publication.
