  • Liberty University

  • A month-long European family trip at the age of 14 inspired Jennifer's wanderlust. Since then, Jennifer has traveled for pleasure, writing, and volunteer work.
  • She started Hill City Bride, a Virginia-based wedding blog, in 2010. Jennifer writes regularly about weddings for Southern Living and Zola. She also thrives on off-the-beaten-path itineraries, food & beverage, philanthropy, and sustainability.
  • As a Society of American Travel Writers member, Jennifer is most proud of her Lonely Planet story on surviving a 5-day cattle drive in Nevada and the opportunity to go back to her science roots in an article for National Geographic Traveler.

Jennifer has been a full-time freelance writer since 2019, and has additional bylines on TripSavvy, CondeNast Traveler, Wanderlust U.K., and Matador Network. Jennifer also writes regularly in the lifestyle vertical for Apartment Therapy.

Jennifer graduated from Liberty University with a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry, which she used to teach for four years. She currently resides in Virginia with her husband and five felines. Other than travel and writing, Jennifer enjoys '80s music, vintage things, fostering kittens, vegetarian cuisine, and time with her three kids and their growing families.
