When San Jose and South Bay locals needed to travel to a far-off destination, we used to have to make the trek up to San Francisco International Airport, a slow drive at rush hour, an expensive taxi ride, or a long trip up the peninsula on public transit.

In recent years, the City of San Jose and local business leaders have worked to attract several new airlines and routes to serve Silicon Valley via the Mineta San José International Airport (SJC). Also, the launch of the smaller and more efficient Boeing 787 Dreamliner has made airlines made introducing long-haul routes to mid-size airports like SJC more cost-effective. Today, Mineta San Jose offers approximately 150 daily flights on 13 domestic and international airlines and departing flights travel to more than 35 non-stop destinations.

Here are eight different international and tropical destinations you can fly to direct and non-stop from SJC.
