Pennsylvania's Coolest Indoor Water Park Resorts

Have Watery Fun Year Round

Kalahari Poconos
Kalahari Resorts

There are plenty of outdoor water parks throughout Pennsylvania. But what is a water park-loving person to do when the water slide/wave pool bug hits in the middle of January? Head to an indoor water park!

Temperature controlled and weatherproof, indoor water parks offer year-round getaways with guaranteed slide time. Pennsylvania, especially the Pocono Mountains region, has become a hotbed for water park resorts. Two of the biggest chains, Great Wolf Lodge and Kalahari Resorts, have opened huge parks in the area. In fact, the Kalahari bills itself as the country's largest indoor water park.

All of the parks are part of resorts that include hotels. Some of the resorts restrict water park admission to registered guests of the hotels, while others offer passes to the general public, sometimes on a restricted basis. Check the details by clicking on the parks below. The water park resorts are arranged alphabetically.

In addition to its major outdoor water park (as well as the great skiing it offers), Camelback Mountain Resort has an enormous indoor water park, Aquatopia, and a hotel in the Pocono Mountains town of Tannersville. Admission to the park is included with room rates and is for the exclusive use of registered hotel guests. Among Aquatopia's features is a translucent roof that allows natural sunlight year-round, an uphill water coaster, and a boogie board surfing attraction.

Also located in the Pocono Mountains (in Scotrun), the large, 78,000-square-foot Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park includes a water coaster and a wave pool. Like Aquatiopia, the park is open to hotel guests only and does not offer day passes. As with other Great Wolf Lodge locations, the resort offers many amenities, such as the MagiQuest interactive attraction, an Aveda Concept Spa, and Cub Club, a supervised play space for children.

    Kalahari Resorts

Like its sister properties in Wisconsin Dells and Sandusky, Ohio, the African-themed Kalahari Resort features an enormous indoor water park and all kinds of dry activities as well as a large convention and meeting center. Day passes for non-hotel guests are available. A 2017 expansion increased the size of the indoor water park to 220,000 square feet, making it America's largest. It offers virtually every kind of water park attraction, including a launched capsule speed slide, a bowl slide, and a water coaster. The resort offers an impressive array of other attractions, including a virtual reality experience, a 7-D motion theater, and an escape room.
