No city in the world hosts a bigger African-American GLBT celebration than Atlanta, which is the site of In The Life Atlanta Black Pride each year in early September - the dates this year are August 30 through September 5, 2016. The event began in 1996 with a picnic over Labor Day Weekend and has been growing stronger ever since, now taking place over a full week. The host hotel, which is where many of the Atlanta Black Pride events will take place, has traditionally been the historic but beautifully updated Georgian Terrace Hotel, conveniently located in Midtown.
Check out the Atlanta Gay Nightlife and Dining Guide for tips on where to eat and socialize during In The Life Week.
In The Life holds both female-oriented events and male-centric events - these include a Pride mixer, a comedy show, the annual In The Life block party, a mansion pool party, and the hugely attended "Main Event" Atlanta Black Pride Party. Check the official In The Life Atlanta page for details about when and where parties are taking place.

Keep in mind that gay bars as well as gay-popular restaurants, hotels, and shops have special events and parties throughout Pride Week. Check local gay media and websites, such as Project Q Atlanta and Georgia Voice. Also take a look at the excellent GLBT site produced by the city's official tourism organization, the Atlanta CVB.
Also mark your calendars for Atlanta Gay Pride, which is held in early October.
