Imagination Stage in Bethesda, Maryland is a children’s theater company offering year-round productions of modern and classic plays. The organization also offers classes in drama, acting, dance musical theater, and film making for children of all ages. Summer theater camps give campers the opportunity to take part in a full production of a musical or play.
Imagination Stage was founded as BAPA (Bethesda Academy of Performing Arts) in 1979 and was located at White Flint Mall.
In 2003, the organization was renamed Imagination Stage and opened its current 40,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility in downtown Bethesda. The building includes two theaters, six classrooms, a digital media studio, a café and gift shop. School field trips, groups, birthday parties and summer camps. The theaters, studios, and gallery are available to rent for business meetings, private parties or events.
In addition to performances, the My First Imagination Stage early childhood programming includes the popular Saturday Song Circle and Sunday Fun-Day. These workshops are themed around popular children’s books and engage children and parents in multi-sensory play. There are also early childhood classes, ranging from 4 to 10 weeks for caregivers and children.

A public parking garage is adjacent to the building with metered parking during the week and free parking Saturdays and Sundays.
The garage is accessible from Auburn Avenue or Del Ray Avenue. Street parking is free on Sundays only.
