Ice skating rinks and arenas in the Reno and Lake Tahoe area offer fun family activities throughout the winter. We advise calling ahead before heading out to one of the rinks - open hours can vary due to factors such as ice and/or weather conditions.

Ice Skating Rinks in Reno and Carson City

Downtown Reno Ice Rink at Aces Ballpark - Aces Ballpark in downtown Reno, Nevada.

This is a new name and location for what was known as Rink on the River.

It's still a great place for families and groups to enjoy a day of ice skating fun, plus you get access to the restaurants and bars of the Freight House District. As before, skating lessons are available and you can reserve the rink for your group. Special deals are available on select days during the season. The 2014 - 2015 season runs from Tuesday, November 25, 2014, through January 2015. For information, call (775) 334-7035.

Arlington Square Ice Rink - Downtown Carson City, Nevada.

This outdoor rink is in the heart of Nevada's capital city. This winter season, the rink will operate from November 28, 2014, through January 2015. Session hours are Monday to Thursday, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is $7 for ages 13 and up, $5 for ages 3 to 12.

Skate rental is $3 per session. Mondays and Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. are family skate nights - $5 for both admission and skates (must include at least 1 skating parent). For rink information, call (775) 283-7629.

Ice Skating Rinks in the Lake Tahoe Area

Olympic Ice Pavillion - High Camp at Squaw Valley USA

here by riding Squaw Valley's Cable Car (this is a separate charge). There are numerous skating options available, so be sure to check the website for details and pricing. Village at Northstar Skating Rink - at Northstar California, south of Truckee on Highway 267.

Outdoor ice skating rink next to the resort. Ice skating is free for all, with a fee of $10 to rent skates if you need them. Open 12 noon to 8 p.m. daily during the 2014 - 2015 season. Call (530) 562-3689 to confirm rink operating hours.

South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena - in the city of South Lake Tahoe

This year-round indoor ice skating rink offers a full range of services, including daily public open ice skating sessions, figure skating, curling, ice hockey, and lessons. There is a lot going on, so consult the arena schedule to find out what is happening and when. Call (530) 544-7465 to confirm fees and hours. The South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena is located at 1176 Rufus Allen Boulevard.

Heavenly Village Skating Rink - in front of Heavenly Village Cinema, South Lake Tahoe.

Outdoor ice skating rink in the Heavenly Village complex, at the base of the Heavenly gondola. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during winter. Rental skates available. Call (530) 542-4230 for more information. Located at 1001 Heavenly Village Way in South Lake Tahoe.

Truckee Ice Rink - The Truckee Ice Rink is located in Truckee River Regional Park, half a mile south of downtown Truckee on Old Brockway Road

It is open seven days a week from late November 2014 to the middle of March 2015, depending on the weather. There are skate rentals, a snack bar, and lessons available. Skate rentals are $2. Daily public skating fees for district residents are $5 for adults, $4 for kids. Non-residents are $6. Services available include ice skating and ice dancing lessons, hockey skills and hockey leagues.
