Huber's Farm in Starlight, Indiana, is a great place to spend some quality family time, especially with their Children's Farm Park and Petting Zoo as the centerpiece activity. Children will adore feeding the animals, and there's plenty for adults and older kids to do as well. (A plus for parents: Going to the petting zoo is a good excuse to buy a bottle of wine from the Huber's winery.)
Where Is Huber's Farm Starlight Located?
Starlight, Indiana is approximately 45 minutes to an hour outside of Louisville. Getting out there isn't too bad, though some of the roads are narrow and very curvy. However, the way to Huber's from the main road is marked out very well with signs, so, even though it's in the middle of nowhere, you would have a difficult time getting lost trying to get there.
Getting Around the Farm
There are two different sections of Joe Huber's Farm -- the farm and restaurant and the orchard and winery. Huber's Farm and Restaurant are the first part that you will come across, and you have to pass that to get to the orchard, winery, and petting zoo.
Things to Remember
The Children's Farm Park and Petting Zoo at Huber's Farm are open from May 1st to October 31st. The area is uncovered, so make sure you bring sunscreen for those extra sunny days. The Children's Farm Park also only accepts cash, so you'll want to make sure to stop by an ATM on the way down so that you don't have to worry about being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a useless debit card. General admission to the park is $5, though some activities have additional costs. Remember to bring quarters so you can buy food for the animals.
