How To Donate Blood in Memphis

Donor Locations, Blood Drives, and More

Donated blood is used in a number of circumstances in which a patient needs a blood transfusion. Examples of those who might need a transfusion include cancer patients, transplant recipients, trauma victims, and premature babies. In some cases, patients may need daily transfusions. With these needs in mind, it is clear that there is a constant need for blood donors.

Fortunately, donating blood is an almost painless process. It usually takes about an hour from start to finish and includes answering some medical history questions, the donation itself (all you'll feel is a single needle prick), and a few minutes at the end to rest and eat a snack before leaving.

The following list will provide you with locations and opportunities to donate this life-saving gift. You may also be interested in learning more about organ donation, another gift of life.‚Äč

St. Jude

St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital is a leader in the treatment of childhood cancers. Because cancer patients and transplant recipients can require a lot of blood, St. Jude is in constant need of blood donors. In fact, they perform about 800 blood transfusions in a typical month. Fortunately, St. Jude makes it as easy as possible to donate with thoughtful amenities such as providing a blood donor parking area near an entrance and taking appointments for donations.
