During the summer months, Washington, D.C. can get quite hot and humid. There are plenty of places to lounge poolside and cool off in a swimming pool. Some are frequented by locals who purchase an often-expensive day pass. Many have an adjacent bar or cocktail lounge and are known for a party atmosphere and some are more laid back and ideal for families. These hotels are known for their outdoor pool environments:

  • Capitol Skyline Hotel - 10 I St., SW. Washington, D.C. The hotel has a large swimming pool that is open daily throughout the summer months. Seasonal memberships are available for non-hotel guests. The hotel has established rules for pool use that are very similar to what any country club pool would impose which has reduced the party atmosphere on a day to day basis. Watch for special events.

Locals can purchase a day pass (days and times restricted.) The pool area is complimentary for hotel guests. Special events such as the hotel-guest-only Fourth of July fireworks display are worth watching for.
