The Cleveland Clinic, located on 140 acres in Cleveland's Fairfax neighborhood, treats more than three million patients each year from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. Founded in 1921, the "Clinic" is one of America's largest private medical centers and consistently ranked #1 in cardiac care. If you, or a friend or family member, is being treated at the Cleveland Clinic, here are a few of the nearby places you can stay.
Located on the Cleveland Clinic campus, the nine-story Intercontinental Hotel has 299 guest rooms and 23 suites. Facilities include a fitness center, spa and sauna and the critically acclaimed, Table 45 restaurant and bar. The entire facility is non-smoking in keeping with the Clinic's smoke-free policy.
The Glidden House, located about two miles away from Cleveland Clinic, was built in 1901 by the Glidden paint family. The mansion sits right between the museums of University Circle and Case Western Reserve University and has been a bed and breakfast inn for about a decade. Guest rooms at the Glidden House have a combination of old-world style and modern amenities.
All rooms feature high-speed Internet access and 42" plasma screen TVs as well as mahogany and cherry four-poster beds, fireplaces and majestic high ceilings. The Inn is a popular venue for weddings and other social events.
The sister hotel to the Intercontinental, this 168 all-suite hotel is also located directly on the Cleveland Clinic campus. Though not connected via enclosed walkway to the medical center like the Intercontinental, the IC Suites does offer a complimentary shuttle to all of the Clinic buildings.
Guest rooms include WiFi Internet access (for a one-time fee), playstation, in-room movies and a kitchenette. Facilities include a business center and access to the Clinic's fitness center. The hotel is all non-smoking in keeping with the Cleveland Clinic's no-smoking policy.
Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House is not technically a hotel. It is a communal living space for families with a child being treated in an area hospital. Located about two blocks away from the Cleveland Clinic, the facility offers 37 guest rooms on a first-come, first-serve basis. Room fees are $20/night and may be waived or reduced for families with financial hardship.
The Ronald McDonald House features a children's play area, laundry facilities, six kitchens and 2 1/2 acres of peaceful, landscaped gardens (pictured at left). A free shuttle is available to the Cleveland Clinic and to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital at University Hospitals.
Like the Ronald McDonald House, the Joseph S. and Jeanette M. Silber Hope Lodge is a communal living space. It is designed to offer a comfortable and convenient place to stay for individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Hope Lodge is located adjacent to University Hospitals, about a mile away from the Cleveland Clinic.
Hope Lodge's 31 rooms are offered free of charge to qualifying patients. Reservations are made through area oncology departments and/or health care professionals. Facilities at Hope Lodge include a communal kitchen, a library and game room, a living room and a manicured garden and patio.
