One of the incentives of being a travel agent is being rewarded by vendors for a substantial number of reservations, better known as loyalty programs, designed for both agents and travelers. Loyalty programs benefit travel professionals as well as the individual traveling.
After acquiring new clients, travel professionals should consider obtaining a list of air, hotel, and car frequent traveler numbers to ensure travelers receive points for reservations used. If they do not have loyalty numbers, suggest they register for benefits. This is a small gesture an agent can do to earn their customer's business.
Travel agents should sign up for any loyalty programs offered to them by vendors for extra benefits for themselves. This becomes a win-win for the agent and customer.
