As seen in this photo of the swimming pool on the Lido deck, this pool has a retractable roof, making it usable in all types of weather. There are many lounge chairs around the pool, but the sofas and chairs in the shade on the ​Panorama deck above are also very comfortable. One added plus is the New York Deli & Pizza takeaway cafe also located nearby on the same deck.

Many on our cruise liked to swim in the pool, take a shower in one of the outdoor showers next to the pool, and then soak in the hot tubs to relax.

Having so many different colored towels placed on the lounge chairs next to the deck gives the pool deck of the Holland America Line ms Koningsdam cruise ship a festive appearance. These lounge chairs are as comfortable as they look, and many travelers love taking an outdoor nap in one.

Holland America Line ms Koningsdam Seaview Pool

The aptly-named Seaview Pool on the Holland America Line ms Koningsdam cruise ship is aft of the Lido Market casual dining venue on deck 9. The area surrounding this outdoor pool has plenty of seats in the sun and the shade. These serve as outdoor seating for the Lido Market, but also for the Seaview Bar, which is also aft on deck 9. This pool is often less crowded than the Lido pool located midship on the same deck.

Those looking for a quieter, more luxurious place to rejuvenate outdoors on the Holland America Line ms Koningsdam cruise ship might want to pay extra to relax in The Retreat. This exclusive area is an adult outdoor area forward on Observation deck 12 near the Crow's Nest Lounge and the Explorations Cafe. The Retreat has lounges, sun beds, an exclusive bar, and even private cabanas to rent.

The Retreat on the Holland America Line ms Koningsdam has cabanas that can be rented for use on the cruise ship.  These Cabanas at The Retreat are perfect for couples who love to be outside as much as possible and want to be pampered by a dedicated staff. Some of the cabanas overlook the sea; others overlook the pool deck and the ship below.

 A simple lunch is served at The Retreat each day, and there's also an exclusive bar for those Holland America Line ms Koningsdam cruise ship guests who have paid extra to enjoy the quiet, luxurious sun deck at The Retreat.

Holland America Line ms Koningsdam Outdoor Jogging Track

The Holland America Line ms Koningsdam cruise ship has an outdoor jogging track on deck 11, the Sun Deck. This track encircles the Lido swimming pool two decks below. There is also a circuit of outdoor exercise equipment for those who prefer working out in the sea air rather than in a gym. 

The Koningsdam also has a wrap-around promenade walking area on deck 3. This is a classic cruise ship feature that seems to be dying out, and I'm glad to see that Holland America has included a wrap-around promenade on the Koningsdam, although it is very narrow (almost single file) in some places.
