Ventura's Hobson County Park is an oceanfront campground, a triangle-shaped area with campsites around the edge. Some sites are right next to the ocean. The park has nice views of the Pacific Ocean and of the Channel Islands offshore. You may also see dolphins, surfers, paddle boarders, and fishing boats.

There's a small, sandy beach at Hobson which mostly disappears at high tide. While you're there, you can go fishing or wading - or check out the tide pools nearby.

People give this campground and park mediocre reviews on average, but most of the are either very high or very low. You can You can read reviews of Hobson Park at Yelp to get an idea of what the pros and cons are.

What Facilities Are There at Hobson County Park?

Hobson has 31 sites for RVs and tents. Ten of them have hookups (50/30/20 amp electricity, water, sewer, and cable TV), but the sites closest to the water are "dry." The surface is gravel and there are only a few trees. RVs up to up to 34 feet long are allowed, but some people who have stayed there say not to bring a rig over 25 feet long because parking is too tight and crowded. In fact, the park's small size is the most frequent complaint from online reviewers.

The campground is located between the ocean and a railroad track. The railroad is still in use and you can expect several trains to pass every day. There's also a major highway (US Hwy 101) nearby and you may hear some freeway noise.

All campsites at Hobson are offered on a first come, first serve basis only. They accept reservations for off-season camping only.

Each campsite has an aluminum picnic table and a fire ring.

Restrooms with flush toilets and coin operated showers are available. The park has WiFi. There's also a concession stand that sells a few food items and firewood.
