    Disneyland gets a Halloween makeover with the parks and the Disney characters decked out for the season from early September through Halloween. Mickey Mouse pumpkin heads rule. Most of the Halloween fun and decor are at Disneyland, with just a few additions at Disney California Adventure.

    Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood

    The un-dead populate the studio backlot on October weekend nights. The event includes walk-through mazes, roaming scare actors, nightmare-inducing rides, shows and attractions. This is the goriest event in town. Not recommended for children under 13 or the squeamish.

    Knott's Scary Farm

    Knott's annual nighttime Halloween Haunt is the original Halloween theme park event in Southern California and still an annual tradition for many. Rides and shows are filled with ghosts, ghouls, werewolves and vampires.

    Mickey’s Halloween Party

    The Disney Resort hosts a separate admission evening event for the Halloween season with Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland. The park will close early to daytime visitors and re-open in the evening with trick-or-treating stations, Halloween crafts, live music and entertainment for the younger set.

    Knott's Spooky Farm is a daytime non-scare celebration of Halloween spread around Knott's Berry Farm with a haunted maze, trick-or-treating and themed entertainment for kids 3-11.

    The Queen Mary Dark Harbor Halloween Terror Fest - Long Beach

    Not exactly a theme park, but more extensive than a typical haunted house, the venerable ocean liner is transformed with spooky mazes, some on the ship, others on land, plus all-age dance parties and live band performances.
