Theatrical Halloween Fun Comes to LA Stages and Cemeteries

This year, there is a record number of shows and exhibits designed to get you in the Halloween spirit, from familiar favorites to world premiere's. This page includes mostly Halloween shows that run at least a couple weeks and a couple more one-off performances, with a couple themed exhibits thrown in for good measure.

    Dungeon of Doom at the Hollywood Museum

    The Dungeon of Doom at the Hollywood Museum is a year-round exhibit, but usually gets some more gruesome additions around Halloween. The main focus is the prison corridor set from The Silence of the Lambs, but there are also costumes and props from The Walking Dead and favorite horror villains like Freddy, Jason, Chucky and more.

    Nosferatu: A Symphony of Terror

    The classic silent German vampire flick comes to the stage with music, dance and video sequences at the Crown City Theatre in North Hollywood.

    Wicked Lit

    Wicked Lit isn't exactly a haunted attraction or a tour, but contains elements of both. It's a theatrical production at Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery where audience members experience three different horror tales in different parts of the cemetery. The plays for this year are the world premiere of H.P. Lovecraft's From Beyond adapted by Trey Nichols; Anansi and the Demons adapted by Jonathan Josephson, and Ellen Glasgow's The Shadowy Third, adapted by Paul Millet. This year the three stories are set within a framework of Camp Mountain View, written by Jonathan Josephson, where the camp is run by a vampire, a ghost, a werewolf and a zombie. Running time is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.

    Last year, Warner Bros. added a special Halloween exhibit on Stage 48 for their Studio Tour. This year, for just two nights, in addition to the horror exhibit on Stage 48, they're inviting visitors to a special Halloween-themed movie screening and a twilight tour of horror movie sets. You'll get to visit the locations where horror classics like “The Exorcist,” “The Lost Boys,” “Gremlins,” “House of Wax,” “Monster Squad,” and “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” and HBO’s series “True Blood” were filmed.
