Seattle puts on its creepy best toward the end of October with plenty of Halloween parties and events at the city's nightclubs, venues, taverns, and restaurants. Featuring costume contests, spooky cocktails, and a variety of live entertainment, these holiday events are sure to add something special to your trip to Washington this fall.

Parties include both family-friendly affairs and adult-only evenings, both mild and wild events, and a little something for everyone. However, a great number of Seattle’s biggest and best Halloween happenings are only available to guests who are over the age of 21. Additionally, many take place at nightclubs in Capitol Hill and Pioneer Square, but there are some great events outside of these popular nightlife destinations.

You can also check local casino and resorts for Halloween parties, many of which have on-site nightclubs that host special events throughout the weeks surrounding the holiday.  Casinos that have had events in the past include Emerald Queen Casino, Muckleshoot Casino, and Snoqualmie Casino.

Alternatively, if you don't feel like partying on your trip Seattle this October, there are plenty of other things to do to put you in the Halloween spirit. Throughout the month, corn mazes and pumpkin patches show up at area farms, haunted houses open their doors to scare both young and old alike, and ghost tours offer tourists a glimpse of the city's haunted history.

Thrill the World: Seattle

Each year, improv groups in cities around the world coordinate a simultaneous dance to Michael Jackson's hit song "Thriller," which will place in 2018 on Saturday, October 27 at exactly 3:00 p.m. Seattle's Thrill the World performance will be held at Occidental Park in Pioneer Square. If you would like to participate in this year's Seattle Thrill the World dance, rehearsals take place weekly starting in September and are managed through the Meetup App. It's free to attend the rehearsals, participate in the dance, and watch the performance, but guests are asked to go to at least one rehearsal in order to participate in the coordinated group dance.

The same event also takes place at the Center Plaza at the Redmond Town Center.

Great Pumpkin Beer Festival

Elysian Brewing Company will host its 14th Annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival at the Seattle Center on October 5 and 6, 2018. With both one and two-day passes available to this popular craft beer celebration, you can spend a day or weekend enjoy some of the latest batch produced by this famous Seattle brewery. The event also acts as a benefit fundraiser for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and raised over 100,000 dollars a year for charity. Guests are encouraged to wear orange, and many show up in pumpkin-themed costumes for the occasion.

The event also features an annual Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off a week before the festival where local farmers compete to see who grew the largest gourd this year.

Haunt at the MoPOP: The Ultimate Halloween Bash

Although this area favorite attraction changed its name from the EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum to the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), it still carries on the legacy of throwing one of the best parties in Seattle for Halloween each year. Now known as "Haunt at the MoPOP: The Ultimate Halloween Bash," this annual event features costume contests with prizes for sexiest, best group, most elaborate, and other fun categories as well as live DJs spinning danceable tracks all night long. Haunt at the MoPOP will take place on October 27, 2018, starting at 8 p.m., and guests must be 21 or older to attend.
