While most farmers markets are open seasonally, some of the larger ones are open year-round.
No matter which market you choose, though, you will find items such as local fruits and vegetables, grass-fed beef and pastured eggs, honey, sweet and savory baked goods, locally roasted coffee, and much more. Every Saturday from May through November, a collection of tents transform a stretch of U Street sidewalks into an exciting market. Vendors sell fresh produce, cheeses, breads, flowers and more from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Located at Woodrow Wilson Plaza in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, the Capital Harvest on the Plaza market is open on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. from May through September. More than 30 vendors and artisans set up shop to sell things like local honey, empanadas, and of course, produce and meats. Stop by the information booth while you're there to stock up on recipes and tips on living an eco-conscious lifestyle.
Chevy Chase Farmers' market started in 2002 with three vendors selling their goods during the summer and is now a year-round market with 11 vendors offering locally produced cheeses, oysters, meat, produce and more. Swing by Lafayette Elementary School in Northwest Washington D.C. every Saturday between 9 a.m.
Buy fresh produce or freshly-prepared meals from 18 vendors at this downtown, lunchtime farmers market. FRESHFARM at CityCenterDC has been operating since 2014 and accepts SNAP, WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits making their good accessible to all. The market is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays from May to October.
The Columbia Heights Community Foodworks Farmers Market is the organization's flagship market. Every Saturday from February to December, 20 vendors come to Civic Plaza to sell locally grown produce, street food and more. From February to mid-April the market is open on Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. April to December it's open Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and from May to October its open on Wednesdays, 4-7 p.m.
More than 50 farmers and food vendors set up shop close to Dupont Circle for this weekly market. Pick up some produce, fresh pasta, baked goods, and artisan cheeses then fill up on locally-roasted coffee, dumplings and more. First opened in 1873, Eastern Market hosts several different markets and has a public event space. South Hall Market is an indoor area, open Tuesday-Sunday, where merchants sell flowers, baked goods, meats, cheeses and more. Local farmers sell their goods from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and weekends at the Farmers' Line Open Year Round. On Saturdays from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sundays 9 a.m.-5 p.m. hundreds of artists, artisans and crafters set up booths in the areas around Eastern Market.

If you'd like to browse local produce with your furry friend, Rose Park Farmers Market is a great option. The park is dog-friendly and nine vendors offer flowers, vegetables, iced tea, pizza and more. The market is open May-October, Wednesday, 3-7 p.m.
H Street NE FRESHFARM Market

Arts Walks is so named for the 27 artist studios that line the street. On Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from April to December, a farmers market joins the fray. The Monroe Street Farmers Market (also called the Brookland Farmers Market) is co-sponsored by Community Foodworks and Monroe Street Market and hosts farmers, food producers, yoga events, live music and more.
Mount Vernon Triangle FRESHFARM Market

New Morning Farm is an organic farm in Pennsylvania that sells more than 60 types of certified organic crops. The farm also runs four farmers markets in D.C., selling their own seasonal produce, as well as the products of neighboring farms and members of the Tuscarora Organic Growers Co-operative. The Sheridan School market, their flagship, is open on Tuesdays during the summer from 3-7 p.m.
The Penn Quarter FRESHFARM market is located right in front of Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum. Browse offerings from more than 25 vendors in the neighborhood where Washingtonians would buy produce 100 years ago. Union Market is an indoor food market in Northeast Washington, D.C. with around 40 local vendors (including a few pop-up stalls). Vendors include local farms, a knife shop, a sustainable seafood seller and a tea shop amongst many others. The market is open year round. Swing by Monday to Wednesday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Thursday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. or Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Note: Not all artisans/vendors are open for as long, so be sure to call or check the website before you visit.
The United States Department of Agriculture also runs a farmers market in Washington, D.C.! Located just outside the USDA headquarters on the National Mall, this farmers market brings together 30 food growers and sellers. It's open on Fridays, May through October, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Ward 8 Farmer's Market was founded by community member in 1998 after the ward's only grocery store was shut down. More than 20 years later the market is still going strong with six vendors selling to the community.
