Check out the following flicks on offer for the 2015 season (bonus: most of them are free!). 01 of 05 Bryant Park Summer Film Festival Bryant Park Corporation One of Manhattan's most-loved outdoor cinema events, the long-running HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival, now in its 23rd year, landed in Bryant Park on June 22, 2015. Running on Monday nights through August 24, the lineup of free screenings spans legendary films, kicking off the program with Ghostbusters and winding it down with Back to the Future. See more at Bryant Park Summer Film Festival 2015. 02 of 05 Rooftop Films Summer Series Darial Sneed It's no secret that Manhattanites love lingering on rooftop oases come summertime, so it's a no-brainer that catching a movie under the stars from a primo rooftop perch encompasses pretty much the perfect summer night out. The Brooklyn-based Rooftop Films Summer Series (anchored in Industry City), now in its 19th year, has unveiled its film lineup for summer 2015, with more than 40 outdoor screenings scheduled weekly in 19 alfresco locations (including some ground-level spots) throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. 03 of 05 Films on the Green: Free French Film Fest in NYC N. Charles Spice up the cinematic summer tradition with a little French flavor, courtesy of the annual Films on the Green festival, featuring a series of French-language films screened alfresco in parks across Manhattan. See more at Films on the Green: Free French Film Fest in NYC. 04 of 05 Summer on the Hudson in Riverside Park Summer on the Hudson in Riverside Park Running from May through October 3, the 2015 edition of the annual Summer on the Hudson festival in Riverside Park brings a summer-long season of 160-plus alfresco arts and cultural events to Manhattan's Hudson River-lined park, stretching from 59th Street to 153rd Street. Expect happenings highlighting music and dance, and, come July and August, a series of movie screenings under the stars. Continue to 5 of 5 below. 05 of 05 More (Free!) Outdoor Film Options in Manhattan . . . Hudson River Park Trust There are plenty more options for free outdoor film screenings throughout Manhattan. In late August, hit up five nights of film in the midst of Central Park courtesy of the Central Park Film Festival. Or, try the Summer Movie Series at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, which is held atop the flight deck of the U.S.S. Intrepid aircraft carrier. Riverflicks is yet another choice, in Hudson River Park, with "Big Hit Wednesdays" screened on Wednesday evenings (from July 8 through August 19), or "Family Fridays" shown on Fridays (July 10 through August 21). Finally, try Movies on the Oval, held on Wednesday evenings (June 17 through August 12), for double features (the first screening is at 5pm, and the second at 7pm) presented on the Stuyvesant Town lawn.
