Getting to Know Dilworth

A Neighborhood Steeped in History

Dilworth Charlotte

About Dilworth:
East Blvd, lined with shops and restaurants sits in the heart of Dilworth, which began as Charlotte's first streetcar suburb and was established by Edward Dilworth Latta in the 1890s on 250 acres just southwest of the original city limits and included the Joseph Forsyth Johnson designed Latta Park. Like neighboring Myers Park, the streets of Dilworth feature stately, mature oak trees, sidewalks, and houses with beautiful front porches. Unlike neighboring Myers Park, most of the homes are more conservative bungalows. Dilworth is also home to the Charlotte area's largest hospital, Carolinas Medical Center.

How to Get to Dilworth:
From the south, take Park Road north. It will split into Scott Ave., a north-only one-way street and Park Rd. West. Either way will take you to East Blvd., where you can travel east or west to view the heart of Dilworth, venturing up side streets for glimpses of the historic bungalows. From Uptown, take Kenilworth south to East Blvd. where you can go east or west.

Shopping in Dilworth:
Dilworth's shopping is a boutique experience, from nationally gift shops like the Paper Skyscraper (330 East Blvd.) and Cottage Chic (1232 East Blvd.) to whole food markets like Talley's Green Grocery (1408 East Blvd.).
