The Arizona State Fair always looks for a large number of people to help create a fun and safe environment for everyone who attends. The Fair is held each October, and people are needed to work for the duration of the three week event, and sometimes for a period of time before and after.
Festival/Event Management Interns
For the 2016 Arizona State Fair individuals may be offered internships to assist in the planning and execution of the Arizona State Fair.
These are unpaid internships that will give candidates valuable work experience and training in their respective fields (possible college/university credit available). These positions will give interns the opportunity to build experience in a number of event management areas including Marketing, Sponsorship/Vendors, Talent Booking, Sales, Accounting, Client Services and Operations. Arizona State Fair interns must exhibit a strong work ethic, be detail-oriented, display a professional demeanor, and have the ability to multi-task. Interested applicants should submit cover letter, resume, and availability to: email@example.com
The Arizona State Fair hires for seasonal positions: Customer Service Representatives, Parking Attendants, Laborers, Custodians, Ticket Takers, Ticket Sellers, and Entry Clerks. Additional specialized positions may be available as needed. Ticket Seller positions must have recent, verifiable money handling experience.
You must be 16 years or older to work as a parking attendant; all other positions require that you be 18 years of age or older.
You must have reliable transportation to work at the Fair. The Arizona State Fair takes place in downtown / Central Phoenix. Here's a map to the Arizona State Fairgrounds so you can tell where you will be going if you get the job.
Free parking is provided for those that are hired. The employee parking lot is located at 19th Avenue & Encanto. If you won't be driving, the Fairgrounds are accessible by public transportation. The nearest Valley Metro Rail station is at Central Avenue and McDowell. That station is just over 1.5 miles from the Fairgrounds. If you are walking, it should take you about half an hour if you walk at a brisk pace.
The Human Resources Department usually starts accepting applications for jobs in mid- to late August and they get many applications. It would be wise to apply as soon as you can because jobs fill up quickly. Applicants must apply in person at the State Fairgrounds in the Coliseum (enter on the lower level on the west side) Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit the employment page online.
