Nestled on the East side of the Westport entertainment district, Bistro 303 is an upscale gay bar/bistro through and through, but the straight crowd doesn’t feel out of place either. 303 boasts a great happy hour, a small plate menu and a great weekend brunch. Expect strong drinks and good service. They also have a delightful back patio that is great for nice weather.
Considered KC’s most popular gay bar, you’ll find it filled to the brim with boys, bachelorette’s and everything in between on any weekend evening.
With two dance floors, a techno-based upstairs dance floor (located next to their leather shop), and downstairs main floor with great DJ spun dance tunes, Missy B’s does not disappoint if you are looking for fun. Drinks are strong and fairly cheap, and you’ll find karaoke, drag shows, and resident Dirty Dorothy is a must see MC.
So Hamburger Mary’s, as you can imagine, has great hamburgers. I rather like them actually. I like their upstairs outdoor bar, which is poured a great drink and has an awesome view of the downtown skyline. I like their charity BINGO, because I love anything that involves drag queens, charity and BINGO. However, I’ve eaten dinner there twice…Sunday Drag Brunch twice (which is a ton of fun), but I’ve had my meal comped twice. Go for fun and food and not service.
Fun, laid back and anything but fancy, Sidekicks Saloon is a little country bar smack dab in the middle of Main.
It’s here you’ll find cheap drinks that aren’t watered down, a laid back scene and lots of country music. The man candy isn’t bad either, too bad they play for another team.
Buddies is considered by many a Kansas City gay man as the dive of the Kansas City Gay bar scene. Pool tables take over much of the inside, and you’ll find cheap beer, a laid back clientele and a good time Buddies is also pretty straight friendly.
