Free Things to Do in Montreal August 2017
Montreal is particularly glorious during the dog days of summer. Orchestras schedule outdoor concertos. Big screens pop up all over town in the name of movie nights under the stars. And street fairs give it their last all before retiring for the season. Admission for all of this? NADA.
Be it live concerts or zero-cost day-long family events, I handpicked something for every taste, narrowing the flow of freebie action down to 62, 62 free things to do in Montreal this August 2017.
Full Disclosure: no one paid their way onto this editorial list compiled by Evelyn Reid. TripSavvy.com experts are subject to a strict ethics and full disclosure policy, a cornerstone of the network's credibility.Continue to 2 of 62 below.

Free Things to Do in Montreal August 2017: The Market
The ambiance in the Jean-Talon Market is unbeatable this time of year. Buskers, happy kids and lots of food and drink converge around up to 300 vendors at one time.
If it's especially hot, grab a handmade ice cream or a pink grapefruit cassis half and half sorbet, my own personal pairing when I visit the market's Havre-aux-Glaces. The grapefruit refreshes and wakes up your tastebuds while the cassis' depth and sweetness cuts out the grapefruit's bitter aftertaste. Heavenly, silky textures too.Continue to 13 of 62 below.

Free Things to Do in Montreal August 2017: The Movie in the Park
Movies in the park are a given in Montreal come summer, particularly in July. But don't assume that all screenings are in English. Some are and they typically include French subtitles, but others aren't. Always check the fine print before heading out if your fluency in French is on the rickety side.
Virgin Radio & CTV propose four movies in the park in Montreal on and off-island suburbs. The vibe is community and family-oriented.
Another family-oriented outdoor movie night is the one put on by Promenades Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Fridays June 30 to August 18, 2017 at 9 p.m. Screenings include free popcorn and a dangerously close proximity to Dairy Queen's hot and frozen treats given the movie-viewing site is in the Queen's parking lot. All screenings are in French. Bring a lawn... chair if you can or get there early to score a complimentary seat.
Cool kids are at the Société des arts technologiques where free movie screenings under the stars at public square Place de la Paix -it's on St. Laurent just south of Ste. Catherine, you can't miss it- are scheduled as part of the SAT's Cinéma urbain à la belle étoile series every Tuesday evening as of 9 p.m. from June 12 to August 24, 2017. No Country for Old Men, The Devil's Horn, Spaceballs, and more are on the agenda.
Documentary film buffs and the socially-conscious flock to Cinéma sous les étoiles running June 27 to September 9, 2017 at various Montreal parks.
And don't miss Lesbian Movie Nights on Tuesdays at nightfall in the Gay Village June 6 through August 22, 2017.Continue to 16 of 62 below.
