Free Summer Outdoor Movies

There's plenty of free entertainment in the Salt Lake area during the summer, including free movie nights sponsored by community organizations throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Most are outdoors, so bring a blanket and a few of your best friends to enjoy a great movie and a beautiful summer evening!

    Salt Lake City will show a free movie at a new park for seven straight Fridays starting in June. The movies are all family-friendly, but fun for all ages. They are shown on a large inflatable screen and popcorn is free while it lasts.

    Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy a neighborhood party under the stars. Community booths will open at 8 p.m. and the movies will begin around 9:15 p.m.

    Millcreek offers Friday night festivals throughout the summer, including games, family activities, a mini-farmers market, and a free outdoor movie. Each festival is held at a different park in the Millcreek area.

    South Jordan City presents free outdoor movies every other Friday night in June, July and August, at various parks throughout the city. Food trucks will be at the event before the movie.

    Draper City presents free family movies at the Draper Amphitheater, one night per month in June and July. Free musical entertainment begins before the movie at 8 p.m., and the movie begins at 9:15.

    Bring the family to Snowbird up Little Cottonwood Canyon every Friday night for free screenings of old and new favorites.

    Riverton Movies in the Park

    Riverton City will offer free outdoor movies on Friday nights throughout the summer, at the Riverton City Main Park.

    The Gallivan Center is thrilled to join forces with the Utah Film Center for the FREE 2015 Monday Night Movie series. This year's theme is "We are not alone": Scifi/Alien encounter movies from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

    July 13: Close Encounters of the Third Kind
    July 20: ET
    July 27: The Fifth Element

    Movies start at dusk. Low back chairs, blankets, pillows and food are allowed. And don't forget about “Gallivan Eats,” the Gallivan Center's concessions stand offering all kinds of munchies and adult beverages.

    The Pioneer Park Picture Show offers free movies on a giant inflatable screen in downtown's Pioneer Park. Movies start around 9 p.m., but come early to enjoy the park and surrounding restaurants.
