Sidewalk Summer Arts Stroll
Third Thursday of Month through Sept.
Free. 4:30-8:30 pm at Sidewalks around the courthouse square, beginning at Harrison Brothers Hardware. Artists will set up tables to present their artwork & performing groups will be located along the way to provide entertainment. For more information, call (256) 534-8376.
Concerts in the Park
These summer concerts take place on Monday nights from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. downtown in Big Spring Park.
Bring a chair and a picnic lunch or snack while enjoying a free concert outdoors.
Concerts on the Dock
Free concert every Friday night from 6-9 pm at Lowe Mill, 2211 Seminole Drive Huntsville. Enjoy concerts featuring local artists. Always family friendly shows. Picnics, coolers & pets on a leash are welcome.
Play Days at Hays
“Play Days at Hays” will be held in June and July each Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the new Terrame Natural Playground at Hays Nature Preserve in Huntsville AL. Sessions are FREE and promise to be fun and educational as children, with an adult, explore and learn about the great outdoors.
Madison Gazebo Concerts
The Madison Gazebo Concerts occur each Thursday night, unless stated otherwise, in the gazebo in downtown Madison, beginning in early June, with the final concert in late August.
Start time is 6:30 pm and concerts last approximately one and a half hours. Bring your chair and come on down to the gazebo for great family music, provided free by the Madison Arts Council.
Tuesdays on the Trail
The Land Trust's "Tuesdays on the Trail" summer series will be offered on nine Tuesdays and one Saturday in June and July. The programs are fun "windows into nature" that foster awareness of the unique geology and wildlife of North Alabama. Events are free to Land Trust members. Non-member cost is $2.00 per child. Reservations are required.
North Alabama Railroad Museum
Free admission to the North Alabama Railroad Museum. Open to the public every day from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for self-guided tours. Volunteers on hand on Wednesday & Saturday mornings until 1 pm. Train rides are offered about once a month and require an admission charge.

Cook's Natural Science Museum--Decatur
Free admission to the Museum. Cook's Natural Science Museum is located at 412 13th St. SE in Decatur. Open Monday—Saturday from 9:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m. (closed for lunch 12:00 p.m.—1:00 p.m.) Sunday 2:00 p.m.—5:00 p.m.For more information, call (256) 350-9347.
Vacation Bible School
Here's a listing of some of the summer programs for the kids. Some are in the morning, but there are some in the evenings to accommodate working parents. Be sure to check with each church to make sure there isn't a pre-registration requirement, fee or age limit and that there are still openings for your child.
