First Night Winchester 2017-18: New Year's Eve Event

The Shenandoah Valley Welcomes the New Year

First Night Winchester is the largest family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The event brings the community together with multiple stages featuring live entertainment throughout the entire day. Performances include folk, jazz, bluegrass, oldies, dance, kids events and more.  Local restaurants and businesses are open.  At midnight, participants welcome in the New Year with the official “Apple Drop” and a midnight fireworks display.

The majority of the events take place in Old Town Winchester within easy walking distance to all venues. Old Town Winchester features a quaint pedestrian walking mall with outdoor cafes, specialty retail shops and family-oriented activities. Read more about visiting Winchester, VA


Admission buttons give participants access to all First Night Winchester venues and entertainment. You may purchase admission buttons from 5-9 p.m. at 33 East Boscawen St.

Schedule of Events

  • 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free admission to the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley
  • 4-11:45 p.m. Entertainment throughout Old Town
  • 11:45 p.m. Apple Drop and Fireworks – intersection of Cameron and Boscawen Sts.
