On Father's Day, Dads get in free when visiting with their families (at least one paid admission required). No sales tax is charged on purchases from the Museum Store, making it a great place to buy a gift for dad. Call (775) 333-9300 for more information.

Ride the V & T Railroad
The restored V & T Railroad runs between Carson City and Virginia City on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through October 31. This is a terrific outing for dad and the whole family, especially if someone happens to be a railroad buff. A steam locomotive pulls the train on Saturdays and Sundays, diesel power runs the route on Fridays.
This is a popular activity, so get tickets in advance or you will likely be left standing at the depot.
An alternative is to go up to Virginia City and take the shorter round-trip ride to Gold Hill and back. This excursion has departures all day and advance reservations are not required.
Train Rides at the Nevada State Railroad Museum
Bring Dad down on Father's Day to take a ride around the Nevada State Railroad Museum on the historic Edwards Motor Car.
Purchase tickets at the Wabuska Station with cash or check, no credit cards. The fare is $4 for ages 12 and older, $2 for ages 4 to 11 and Museum members, free for kids 3 and younger.
