Don't miss St. Louis' biggest July 4th celebration! Fair Saint Louis returns to Forest Park for three days of food, fun, and fireworks. The fair will once again be held at Art Hill and the Grand Basin. Organizers made the change because of the ongoing construction project to expand and improve the grounds around the Arch. Here's essential information for anyone attending this year's fair.

When and Where

Fair Saint Louis is held each year over the Independence Day holiday. In 2017, the fair is July 2, 3 and 4. The location is Art Hill and the Grand Basin in Forest Park.

The hours for Fair Saint Louis 2017 are:
July 2 - 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
July 3 - 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
July 4 - 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The VP Parade

One of the oldest July 4th traditions in St. Louis is the Veiled Prophet Parade. The annual parade is in downtown St. Louis this year. It will kick off at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 1, with plenty of colorful floats and marching bands. The parade will start at Broadway and Market, then make its way west down Market Street, ending near Union Station.

Expanded Entertainment

Because of the location for the fair, there are no air shows in 2017, but organizers have expanded the free entertainment and live music. Popular artists like AKON, 3 Doors Down and Jake Owen will all be performing. Here's a quick look at the music schedule for the fair:

July 2
Dirty Muggs - 5:50 p.m.

SuperDuperKyle - 6:30 p.m.
AKON - 8:15 p.m.

July 3
Eve 6 - 5 p.m.
Sister Hazel - 6:45 p.m.
3 Doors Down - 8:30 p.m.

Fireworks and More

The fair will once again have an activity area just for the kids. The Family Festival Zone will be located along Lagoon Drive on the west side of the Grand Basin. Children can paint and do other art projects. They can also meet members of the Purina Incredible Dog Team and participate in experiments from the Magic House.

Fair St. Louis ends each night with a fireworks display.  After the fireworks, police will escort the crowds out of the park and the fair will close promptly. Here's the schedule for this year's fireworks:

July 2 Fireworks  - 9:35 p.m
July 3 Fireworks - 10 p.m.

July 4 - Fireworks Finale - 9:35 p.m.

Parking and Transportation

With large crowds expected for the fair, parking will be an issue. Some key things to know: there is no street parking allowed in Forest Park or in the neighborhoods surrounding the park. You can park at many of the lots inside Forest Park, but the cost is $20 a car. There will be some free parking at nearby lots just outside of the park. Shuttles will be running in the park and from nearby Metrolink stations to get everyone to and from Art Hill. Police will also be on hand to direct traffic around the park. Fair organizers have a detailed plan for parking and transportation including the best traffic routes for getting around. For more information, see Fair St. Louis Maps and Parking.
