Hiking, Biking, and Boating at Lake Needwood
Lake Needwood is a 75-acre lake in Rockville, Maryland that is a part of Rock Creek Regional Park. Visitors can rent rowboats, canoes, and pedal boats, or take a ride on a pontoon boat. Fishing is permitted with a license. The park has a visitors center and snack bar, picnic areas, hiking trails, playgrounds, an archery range, and a golf course. The Rock Creek Hiker/Biker Trail begins at Lake Needwood and extends 14.5 miles into Washington, DC. Go Ape Treetop Adventure offers a unique outdoor experience for ages 10 and up. The park is one of the best recreational attractions in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Getting to Lake Needwood
Address: 15700 Needwood Lake Circle, Rockville, Maryland. From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take I-270 to Exit 8 for Shady Grove Road. Take the exit for Redland Boulevard. Continue on Redland Blvd. to Needwood Road. Turn Right. Follow the road to the park entrance. Turn left into the park. There are several parking lots within the park. Access for the hiker-biker trail is at the farthest end of the park. There is a second entrance into the park from Avery and Norbeck Roads.Continue to 2 of 9 below.

Lake Needwood Visitors Pavilion
Lake Needwood Park has a covered pavilion with picnic tables and a snack bar open during the summer months. The pavilion sits adjacent to the lake with prime views of the park.Continue to 3 of 9 below.

Lake Needwood Hiking Trails

Rock Creek at Lake Needwood Park
Rock Creek runs along the Hiker/Biker Trail at Lake Needwood Park. The 14.5-mile hiker-biker trail that starts in Rock Creek Park and continues along the stream valley all the way into Washington DC. Geese and Ducks
