What? What goes on at Semana Grande? What doesn't go on? The biggest festival in the region, with local traditional music and dancing as well as the the Bilbao Strong Man competition and an Ugly Competition. The event is known as Aste Nagusia in Basque.

Vuelta a España

When? August 23 - September 14 (dates approx)
Where? Stages take place largely in the north of Spain (Galicia, Navarra, Basque Country and Catalonia) and around Madrid.
What? Spain's version of the Tour de France. Dates vary year to year but tend to straddle August and September.

Tomatina Tomato Fight

When? Fourth Wednesday of August
Where? Bunyol (Buñol), near Valencia.
What? The world's most famous food fight.
