For generations, sophisticated Europeans have enjoyed topless and bottomless vacations. In fact, you may find it more of a challenge to find a beach where everyone is dressed than a nude beach.

According to South France Guide, "They say you cannot go further than two miles along the French Mediterranean coast without seeing nudists. If the weather is warm, just try the beaches between resort beaches, and you're bound to find naturism.

Or ask in the local tourist office for "La Plage Naturiste."

France Nude Beaches

Cap d'Agde is the largest nudist resort in France and the world's capital of nudism on the Mediterranean coast. The Naturist resort is itself a complete town, town with a three-mile beach, and offering all that you need such as its own doctors, banks, shopping, and dining, just for the nudists. But Cap d'Agde takes it all to a new level of hedonism and free living. In the summertime, the population of the nudist section swells to 40,000. Any self-respecting nudist must visit this spot, considered the naturist destination.

Cote d'Azur and Corsica also both have many nude beaches and nudist resorts. In addition, the South France Guide suggests: "Going from west to east on the Michelin map, try the beaches to the east of the following villages: Torreilles Plage, Leucate Plage, Port La Nouvelle; Gruissan Plage (to the west only), St Pierre sur Mer; Marseillan Plage; Port Camargue (by the lighthouse), Stes Maries de la Mer; Cap Croisette; Heyeres-Plage; Ile de Levant (by ferry from le Lavendou, St Aygulf; and Plage de Tahiti, near St.

Tropez."

Great Britain Nude Beaches

Public nudity and nude sunbathing in Great Britain is perfectly acceptable as long as you're not "alarming or harassing others."However, there are many specific nude areas and naturist beaches in the United Kingdom that you an visit. Leysdown is the closest nude beach to London, just east of the city.

Near Brighton, check out Kemp Town and Birling Gap.

Greece Nude Beaches

Nude beaches are abundant in Greece and there are many Greek islands with beaches where guests are allowed to sunbathe naked. While in practice any secluded stretch of Greek sand can be used as a nude beach, some beaches are more nude-friendly than others. Paradise Beach in Mykonos is one of the best-known places for laying out naked by the ocean. Crete is also home to the sole "official" nudist resort, the deluxe Hotel Vritomartis at Filaki Beach and a nude apartment complex, the Kalo Kairi.

Italy Nude Beaches

In Forte dei Marmi (Tuscany), Santa Maria Beach is one of the top topless beaches in the world. Unlike in the United States, many European beaches permit nudity. While it's not mandatory for visitors to beaches to part with their bikini tops or swim trunks, don't be alarmed if you see others doing so.

Norway Nude Beaches

Despite Norway's colder temperatures, clothing-free beaches abound in this Nordic nation. There are about 20 declared nude beaches ("free beaches") along Norway's coastline and fjords. Strandskog Nude Beach on the Bunnefjorden, the central portion of the Oslofjord in southeastern Norway east of the Nesodden peninsula, may be Norway's most popular nude beach.

Considered one of the best nude beaches in Norway, Strandskog is also one of the smaller ones. It features a pretty, partially sandy beach with plenty of privacy.

Spain Nude Beaches

There is no shortage of nudist beaches in Spain, especially off the coast on the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Islands of IbizaMallorcaMinorca, and Formentera feature some of the most popular beach destinations in Spain, most of which are nudist beaches. In Costa del Sol, on the coast of mainland Spain, Costa Natura is the best family-friendly naturist resort option.
