Erin Kirkland is a freelance writer based in Anchorage, Alaska. She is author of Alaska on the Go: Exploring the 49th state with children and publisher of, Alaska’s only family travel resource. Her work has appeared in Alaska Magazine, Huffington Post Travel, Fox News Online, Outdoor Families Online, and She is a regular contributor to Anchorage’s CBS affiliate, KTVA 11 and writes a weekly column for the Alaska Dispatch News. 

With a straightforward style that offers practical suggestions for making the most of any Alaska vacation, Erin is one of the most respected travel writers in the state, possessing a willingness to explore new opportunities and reintroduce consistent favorites within the Alaska travel industry. Whether visitors are making their first trip to Alaska or their fifth, Erin is committed to the rich stories, vibrant culture, and breathtaking adventures that make the Last Frontier unlike any other place on earth. 


Erin graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a bachelor's degree in recreation management and leisure studies. She also earned a graduate certificate in gerontology at the University of Washington.
