If you're looking for family-friendly ways to celebrate the holidays in the Bluff City, The Enchanted Forest at the Pink Palace is a uniquely Memphis way to spend an afternoon.
Holiday forest displays have been a Memphis tradition for 50 years. Goldsmith's Department Store downtown was the first venue for such a Christmas display. Today, the Pink Palace Museum and Mansion continues the tradition with the Enchanted Forest: Festival of Trees.
The Festival of Trees features automated teddy bears, elves, penguins and more. The fun, vintage aesthetic of the display appeals to kids and adults alike. There is also a Gingerbread Village featuring cottages, castles, and other fun structures designed by Memphis groups every year. The Model Train area features a miniature train traveling through an imaginative snow-covered town.
Then, there are dozens of beautiful trees sponsored and decorated by area businesses, churches and other volunteers. Each tree has a different theme, and the tree designs change every year.
At the conclusion of your journey through the Enchanted Forest, you will be greeted by Santa who will be available to take photos with the children. Proceeds from the Enchanted Forest support Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center.
