Edmond Electric Parade of Lights

In Short:

Sponsored by Edmond Electric and The Downtown Edmond Business Association, the Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond presents an annual Parade of Lights. With a number of holiday-lit parade floats from individuals groups, organizations and businesses, the event follows the Mayor's Tree Lighting Ceremony and draws thousands to downtown in early December. In addition, the area features wagon rides, ice skating and more for the season.

2017 Date and Time:

UPDATE: The parade has been cancelled. Moving forward, instead of a parade, there will be a light display at Mitch Park throughout the month of December. 

The Mayor's Tree Lighting is at 6 p.m. Dec. 2.

Location & Directions:

The parade takes place in downtown Edmond, just north of 2nd Street and Broadway in Edmond. Metro area residents can follow I-235 straight north and will literally run into the event. Parking areas are available just to the east, north and south of Main near Baumann. See below for parade route.

The Mayor's Tree Lighting ceremony is held at Shannon Miller Park at the corner of Jackson and 1st.

Parade Route:

The parade route follows a square grid. It begins on University at Campbell and travels south to 1st, west along 1st to Broadway, north on Broadway to Campbell, and finally east back to University.

Parade Entry:

Cash prizes of $100 (3rd place), $200 (2nd place) and $300 (1st place) are awarded to the winning entries, based on "lights and the theme of the season." To enter, simply fill out an entry form and mail or fax it to: The City of Edmond; P.O. Box 2970; Edmond, OK 73083. Insurance information is required, and parade entries can't endorse political parties, candidates or issues.

Ice Skating:

Edmond also hosts one of the metro holiday ice skating rinks at Mitch Park, and it will be open before and during the Parade of Lights event. Get all the details on the Edmond ice rink, including hours of operation and cost.
