Where to Go in Eastern Europe in April

The eastern part of the European continent is formally known as Eastern Europe. This region has many various cultures, ethnicities, socioeconomic properties, and deep histories. There are many diverse groups in Eastern Europe, such as the Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, and Russian people. Everything is largely considered cheaper in Eastern Europe and much of the land is still unexplored, which is great news for travelers. Tourists tend to flock to Western Europe, so there are also likely to be fewer crowds on the eastern side, where many hidden gems can be found, from the ancient castles in Poland to the magical cathedrals of Russia.

April in Eastern Europe is in the middle of the beautiful springtime travel season. During this time, the crowds haven't become thick yet, a nip might still be present in the air, and although some summertime attractions may have yet to open their doors, it is well worth it. April in Europe means blooming flowers, pleasant weather for exploring sights, and eager people that are welcoming the warmer temperatures. Prague, Czech Republic

Travelers will be able to enjoy Prague's Easter market when this springtime holiday occurs in April. However, because many travelers come to Prague for Easter, the city may be packed due to the high season. Witches' Night, a celebration that occurs at the end of April, is also an annually anticipated event.

Travelers will feel safe walking through the city during all times of the day, whether in tourist areas like Old Town Square or lesser known restaurants and bars. Day trips to places like Karlovy Vary and Kutna Hora are also recommended.

Budapest, Hungary

Budapest has a very warm temperature in April, perfect for celebrating Easter all around, from the Easter festival to the Easter fairs and specialty menus.

Travelers can visit the Vajdahunyad Castle Easter Fair & Exhibition, or stop by the Budapest Spring Wine and Jazz Festival, where they can enjoy a glass of Hungarian wine coupled with fine music in one of Europe's most enticing cities.

There are plenty of tours to take as well, from the Budapest River Cruise to fun Segway tours. The musically inclined can review the classical concerts available and nature-goers can walk through the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Bratislava, Slovakia

Old Town Bratislava is at is most charming in sunny weather. When the air turns chill, travelers can enjoy a cup of something warm at a cafe. However, the temperatures tend to rise rapidly in April, arching close to 80 degrees.

Springtime in Bratislava means outdoor cafes and restaurants, open galleries and sports venues, and many street performances and city events. The traditional Bratislava marathon is organized during the month of April, and those who don't enjoy running can opt for biking at the many cycling routes around the city.

Warsaw, Poland

The weather is usually between 60 and 74 degrees in the April month. To be on the safe side, it is recommended that travelers pack protective and warm clothes such as jackets and raincoats.

Warsaw's April calendar of events is full of the Jewish Motifs International Film Festival and two theater festivals. Travelers will also be able to enjoy Easter celebrations when the holiday falls during this month. There are many historic walking areas, gardens and parks, and points of interests in Warsaw. Travelers can check out Old Town, Lazienki, and Castle Square for a diverse and pleasant trip.

Krakow can be pretty chilly in April, with temperatures around 50 degrees. Travelers can pack layered clothing for all types of weather, especially that concerning rain. Jeans, cotton pants, and cashmere are recommended clothing items.

Travelers can collect colorful Easter eggs or attend holiday-related concerts in April. There are also classical and historical music concerts held around the city during Holy Week, such as the Misteria Paschalia Festival. It is also recommended that ​travelers go to the Wawel Castle, Rynek Underground, and Schindler's Factory.

Moscow, Russia

Moscow weather in April is between the 50s and 60s. Although the weather is a bit chilly, the city offers some of the best restaurants, a bustling nightlife, and must-see landmarks like the Bolshoi Ballet.

Travelers are encouraged to celebrate Russia's space exploration on Cosmonautics Day on April 12th annually. The Moscow Easter Festival is also a celebratory time with cultural Russian traditions.

Vilinus in April typically includes nice, sunny, and spring-like weather. Bars and nightclubs on Islandijos and Vilniaus streets are recommended. Some of these include Busi Trecias, Bix bar, and Pabo Latino.

Oddball events are the mark of Vilnius' April calendar. Travelers can gain entry into the sovereign district of Uzupis on April first or watch a dinosaur's rampage through Vilnius University on Physics Day.
