Parks, public gardens, churches, malls and other venues around Los Angeles and Orange County celebrate the Easter season in a variety of ways, from the purely commercial to the devoutly religious. You'll find events here to satisfy every interpretation of the holiday.

Easter Events in Los Angeles

Pershing Square Community Egg Hunt

City of Los Angeles’ Park and Recreation hosts a free Pershing Square Community Egg Hunt in Downtown LA, including prizes, poetry and storytelling, arts and crafts, children’s entertainment and inflatables. Egg hunts will run in shifts by age group. Check the website for times. Food is available for purchase. Dozens of other LA Parks also have egg hunts on April 8 and 15, 2017. Bunny's Spring Fling at the LA Zoo & Botanical Gardens

Kids can make bunny ears, pet bunnies and have their photo taken (for a fee) with Big Bunny and other cartoon characters at this three-day event at the LA Zoo.

There will be crafts, face painting, music and more.

Blessing of the Animals at Olvera Street

The Merchants of Olvera Street and a cow decorated with flowers lead a procession of gaily decorated animals past a priest delivering the blessing.

The procession begins at 2 pm. Free pony rides and petting zoo. Animals and their owners assemble on the north side of the Plaza.

Downtown LA Easter Fest at Grand Hope Park

New City Church hosts this outdoor festival at Grand Hope Park at W. 9th and Hope Streets in Downtown LA. The event includes Easter arts and crafts, face painting, races and games, a bounce house, food and drink and an Easter egg hunt with thousands of eggs.
When: Easter Sunday, 2 - 5 pm, no entrance before 2 pm

Sunrise Service on the Battleship Iowa

The Battleship Iowa in San Pedro is hosting a non-denominational sunrise Easter Service. The ship opens at 10 for regular guests. Those attending service can get a discounted $11 admission for that day only.

Easter Brunch on the Queen Mary

Easter Champagne Brunch in the Grand Salon aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach accompanied by live harp music.

Reservations also available at Sir Winston's and Chelsea Chowder House. This year, the Easter Bunny will be on hand for a special family photo-op. Complimentary afternoon programming on the picturesque Verandah Deck will include a prize-filled Easter Egg Hunt, Easter animal petting zoo, face painting station and traditional "backyard games". The Passion Play at Shepherd of the Hills Church

This is not your typical local church production put on by the Sunday School class. Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch, at the very northern edge of Los Angeles, stages a professional production with some major Hollywood talent. There will be plenty of children and teens in the cast of hundreds, but also expect stellar voices and acting performances.

The tented outdoor theater will also host Easter services on Sunday.

Easter on the Farm in Moorpark

This Easter and springtime celebration at Underwood Family Farms include photo ops with the Easter Bunny and Easter House, crafts, Easter Story Labrynth, Hay pyramid, Combine slide, animal shows and a tractor-drawn wagon ride in the price of admission. Easter Eggstravaganza with Irvine Regional Railroad

Two weeks of Easter celebrations with daily egg hunts, visits from the Easter Bunny, a moon bounce, train rides, cookie decorating and more. Each individual activity requires a ticket. The park will be open with regular park activities on Sunday, but the Easter activities will not be available.

Ostermarkt Easter Bazaar and Easter Brunch at the Phoenix Club

A German-themed Easter bazaar with springtime vendors and German food will be held the weekend before Easter. A full Champagne Brunch will be served on Easter Day and includes visits with the Easter Bunny and an egg hunt at 11:30.
