Annapolis is located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, approximately 32 miles east of Washington, DC and 26 miles south of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. The city is a historical seaport and the state capital of Maryland. With its Downtown set along the Chesapeake Bay, the City Dock area is a popular destination for boaters and visitors from around the region. This map shows an overview of the Annapolis area. Route 50 begins in Washington DC as New York Avenue and becomes a multi-lane highway as it moves to the east. After passing by Annapolis, Route 50 crosses the Chesapeake Bay Bridge taking visitors to the Maryland Eastern Shore.

Annapolis Street Map: Waterfront and City Dock Area

This map shows the Annapolis Waterfront, the City Dock and the historic Downtown area. The City Dock and the Annapolis Harbor are the busiest areas of Annapolis. To the north, is the U.S. Naval Academy, which is easily accessible and open to the public for walking tours and many events. The Maryland State House is located at State Circle just west of the City Dock.

Parking meters throughout downtown Annapolis are limited to 2 hours. Public parking garages are located as follows:

  • Hillman Parking Garage, 150 Gorman Street, located just off of Main Street.
  • Calvert Street Garage, 19 St. Johns Street, located next to St. Johns College
  • Gott's Garage, Calvert Street, near West Street

There is no public transportation from Washington DC to Annapolis. The closest Metro station is New Carrollton which is in Prince George's County, 21 miles from Annapolis.

Take US 50 East towards Annapolis
Take exit 24 to merge onto MD-70 S/Rowe Blvd toward Annapolis S
Continue to follow MD-70 S
Turn right at College Ave
At the traffic circle, take the 5th exit onto School St
At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto East St
Slight right at Pinkney St
Slight left at Market Space
Continue onto Dock St
Directions From Baltimore:
Take I-95 S toward Washington
Take exit 49A on the left toward I-695 E/Glen Burnie/Annapolis
Merge onto I-695 S
Slight left at I-97 S (signs for Annapolis/Bay Bridge)
Take the exit toward US-50 E/US-301 N/Annapolis/Bay Bridge
Merge onto US-301 N/US-50 E
Take exit 24 to merge onto MD-70 S/Rowe Blvd toward Annapolis S
Continue to follow MD-70 S
