Serviced apartments are a real treat – especially if they are as good as the Dolphin House Apartments.

A 1930s red brick mansion block in Pimlico, Dolphin House has apartments for permanent residents and some available to rent by the night, week, or month.

These elegant, serviced apartments are located in residential Westminster by The Thames. The building is based around a large central landscaped garden courtyard providing outdoor space for guests and residents.

It really is an excellent city retreat.

History

Dolphin House opened in 1937 and the apartments available to rent still have some 1930s features.

Over the years, Dolphin House has been a popular home for politicians, celebrities and even royalty (Princess Anne lived here when she was first married). Politicians have chosen it because it is just a 20 minute walk away from the Houses of Parliament.

Facilities

As well as the spacious rooms – most apartments have a super king-size bed, duck-down duvets and feather pillows – Dolphin House Apartments all include a kitchen or kitchenette giving you the flexibility to dine at 'home'. You can also dine at the Dolphin Bar & Grill that is available for breakfast and dinner.

There's an on-site swimming pool and steam room that guests can use, as well as a Fitness Suite and an award-winning Moroccan Spa. (The Spa in Dolphin Square is the only Spa in London where visitors are completely immersed in the age old cleansing and purifying rituals of a true Moroccan Hammam.) There are also tennis and squash courts.

Apartments have all the home-from-home facilities you would expect including fancy toiletries in the luxury bathroom and complimentary water and milk in the fridge. The kitchens have cooking facilities including microwaves, and all the crockery and cutlery you will need. There are flatscreen TVs in the living room and bedroom, plus free wifi throughout.

Bookings of 7 nights or more will receive a twice-weekly maid service and linen change.

Location

Dolphin House is within 5 minutes walk from Pimlico underground station and 15 minutes walk away from Victoria train station. Tate Britain is close by and Buckingham Palace can be reached in 25 minutes on foot. It's also perfect for a theatre trip to see Wicked or Billy Elliot as the Apollo Victoria Theatre and Victoria Palace Theatre are within walking distance.

Dolphin House Apartments Review

There are studios and one, two or three-bedroom apartments here. I stayed in a one bedroom apartment with my daughter for one night. Check-in was smooth and the Reception staff were incredibly polite.

We found the apartment to be much bigger than expected, and the peace and quiet was appreciated. For a London apartment it really was a good size and the setting seemed tranquil.

I would say the Dolphin House Apartments are comparable to a top-ranking London hotel as the service was great and the facilities were just what we needed. Not long after reaching our room we had a courtesy call from Reception and when I asked about a light switch a member of staff came to the room to show me how everything worked.

It was a real treat to have access to the swimming pool and we slept well as it felt as quiet as the English countryside.

I would definitely recommend Dolphin House Apartments for business and leisure travelers including families. The price was excellent and we really enjoyed our stay.
