One of the most popular and beloved attractions at Disney Parks is getting a big makeover and a world view.
Families can now get a whole new Soarin' experience because Soarin’ Around the World has opened at Epcot at Disney World and Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort. The new Soarin' takes you flying over some of the world’s most unique and iconic natural landscapes and man-made wonders.
Soarin’ Around the World elevates you up to 40 feet into an 80-foot projection screen dome that fills your entire field of vision and gives you the sense of flight. Expect to spy natural and man-made landmarks like the Great Wall of China, Sydney Harbor in Australia, and the Matterhorn in Switzerland.
The attraction replaced the original Soarin' Over California, which took guests flying high over the Golden State's beaches, mountains, orange groves, and iconic destinations like the Golden Gate Bridge and Yosemite National Park.
This new international experience is part of a much larger revamping of the Soarin' attraction that included additional theaters, enhanced digital screens, and new projection systems.
At the Soarin' Around the World attraction at Epcot, at Disney World, there is also a new queue featuring a new game called “Soarin’ Challenge” that you can play via smartphone while you wait.
This complimentary travel trivia game lets you join hundreds of other players to answer questions on geography, cuisine, languages and more. You can also unlock passport stamps for their digital collection and aim to up your personal score on the leaderboard. Don’t have a mobile device? No problem.
Just look to one of the in-queue displays to play.
The same technology is being used for Soarin' Over the Horizon at Shanghai Disneyland, which opened in June 2016.
