In the Adventure Tower of the Disneyland Hotel, on the floor surrounding the E-Ticket Club (Disneyland Hotel's concierge lounge), are five of the most immersive and stunning suites Disney has created. Inspired by classic Disneyland attractions and even the Big Cheese himself, Imagineers let their imaginations run wild to create each of these one-of-a-kind suites. Dream big as we take a tour of the five Signature Suites, each uniquely themed: Fairy Tale, Pirates of the Caribbean, Adventureland, Big Thunder, and the Mickey Penthouse Suite.
The Adventureland Suite
I was excited to see the Adventureland Suite before I even stepped inside the door. We pressed the doorbell and suddenly, the exotic masks on the foyer wall came to life, chanting and banging drums (there are three soundtracks in all). Inside, there were plenty of additional surprises: quirky monkey lamps, an inviting grotto shower with a light and sound experience, hidden compartments behind the bookshelves, and this cozy reading nook that doubles as extra sleeping quarters (it's a full-sized bed). There are plenty of surprises here, some small enough to miss at first glance: I loved the detail of a butterfly in one of the display cases that has escaped its pinning, and is loose behind the glass, slowly flapping its beautiful wings. Take a tour of the Adventureland Suite, the two-bedroom suite that makes me wish I could have Disney Imagineers redecorate my own abode.
The Pirates of the Caribbean Suite
Is it just me, or did you always think the captain's quarters in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride looked really posh and inviting? I mean, of course, without the spiderwebs and skeleton in the bed. So imagine it cleaned up and polished, and quite a big larger, and you have something like the Pirates of the Caribbean Suite in the Disneyland Hotel. Yo, ho, yo, ho, a pirate's suite for me. Too much? See for yourself.
The Fairy Tale Suite
For the little voice inside your head that says you really should be treated like royalty when you travel (or again, is that just me?) the Fairy Tale Suite just might suit your fancy. Tinkerbell greets you when you walk in, and that's just the start of the magical touches in this regal room. Don't miss the sparkling lights that make the bathroom vanity glow, the hand-cut tile that makes up the castle mural behind the bathtub, and the TV that "magically" sinks into the furniture so you can take in the views of Downtown Disney beyond. Take a tour of the Fairy Tale Suite in the Disneyland Hotel.
The Big Thunder Suite
When you think of the old West, you might think rustic. Instead, think of the suite you would have furnished had you been a big success in the gold rush. It's the perfect blend of rough-hewn rocks and polished dark wood. Rich appointments like this gorgeous hammered copper bathtub may even make you shout, "Yeehaw!" Go ahead. Try it. It feels good. For inspiration, take a tour of the Big Thunder Suite in the Disneyland Hotel.
The Mickey Mouse Penthouse
Are you the type to go straight to the top? The Big Cheese? The whole enchilada? Well, the Mickey Mouse Penthouse is for you. Bright colors, fabulous views, and lots of nostalgia pack this one-of-a-kind two-bedroom suite in (where else?) the Disneyland Hotel. If you think you're going to start counting hidden Mickeys, think again. The Mickey symbols in this suite are not hidden. In fact, they are everywhere! The ceiling, the bathroom tiles, even the entertainment center are all Mickey, all the time. The suite is also filled with collectibles for every die-hard Mickey Mouse fan, from Steamboat Mickey figurines in the master bedroom to the classic Mickey Mouse telephones in the living room.
