Have you made plans for Boston's most delicious weeks of the year? Dine out Boston--Boston's version of Restaurant Week--makes dining out in the city fun and affordable. So, book a Boston hotel (compare rates with TripAdvisor), and get ready to feast. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of the next Dine Out Boston event in 2016:

What is Boston Restaurant Week?

Boston Restaurant Week, held twice each year in the winter and summer, is an opportunity for Boston residents and visitors to sample prix-fixe menus at some of the city's best restaurants at a price that usually represents a significant savings.

The annual Restaurant Week is now branded as Dine Out Boston.

When is Boston Restaurant Week?

The next Restaurant Week in Boston is actually two weeks: August 14 to 19 and August 21 to 26, 2016.

Why is Boston Restaurant Week a Bargain?

During Dine Out Boston Restaurant Week, participating restaurants serve prix-fixe meals for $15, $20 or $25 at lunch and $28, $33 or $38 at dinner. These prices represent quite a value in a city where dining out can be very expensive, and most of Boston's top restaurants participate in the twice-annual promotion. The price per person does not include beverages, tax or a gratuity.

Which Restaurants Participate in Boston Restaurant Week?

For Summer 2016, hundreds of restaurants throughout Boston, Cambridge and other outlying suburbs are participating including heavyweights like Grill 23, Henrietta's Table and Bar Boulud. The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau offers a detailed list of participating restaurants and their menus on the Dine Out Boston Web site.

The list helps diners find restaurants by neighborhood, cuisine, price or name.

Are Reservations Necessary During Dine Out Boston?

There is extraordinary competition to score a seat at many of Boston's best restaurants during the promotion, so yes: Do make reservations in advance if you can. Reservations for many participating restaurants can be made online via OpenTable.com.

You may also call participating restaurants directly. Because the menu offerings are sometimes quite limited during Dine Out Boston Restaurant Week, you may also want to call ahead to inquire about the prix-fixe menu that will be available if you have food allergies or preferences.

Can I Dine Out AND Win a Prize?

Yes! Enter the Dine Out Boston Photo Contest. Just snap a picture of your dining experience and post it on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. Be sure to hashtag both the name of the restaurant and #dineoutboston.

Are There Any Getaway Packages for Boston Restaurant Week?

Yes! The Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau has information on a variety of summer hotel packages in the city that may save you money or include extra amenities during your Restaurant Week stay.
