Dinah Shore Weekend 2018

It's been billed as one of the largest, if not the most popular, gatherings of lesbians in the world, and every year, Dinah Shore Weekend—also sometimes referred to as Palm Springs Women's Weekend—draws more and more crowds. Dinah Shore Weekend takes place March 28 and April 1, 2018, and features a slew of fabulous parties thrown by iconic promoter Club Skirts.

Taking place the same weekend as the popular ANA Inspiration LPGA Golf Championship, Dinah Shore Weekend features a variety of events including pool parties and concerts around the host hotels as well as special games, comedy shows, and celebrity appearances.

Many gay bars and LGBT-popular restaurants in Palm Springs are especially packed with lesbian visitors this time of year. Also, hotels and gay resorts will be making lesbian visitors feel extra welcome throughout the weekend (even many of those resorts that cater mostly to men become ostensibly women's resorts this week).

What to Expect at Dinah Shore Weekend 2018

Organizer Club Skirts books a number of major celebrities and entertainers to lead The Dinah's events and parties each year. This year's lineup (you can view a full schedule here) includes typical nightly parties, performances, and tons of celebrity appearances including Briana Venskus, Katie Sowers, Lauren Bedford Russell, Mikey Koffman, and Rose Garcia.

The Official Dinah Pre-Party kicks off the weekend on Wednesday, March 28 at the Hilton Main Pool Deck from 8 p.m. to midnight, followed on Thursday by The Dinah's Official Opening Party at Zelda's Nightclub. Other events include the Thank God It's Dinah Friday Pool Party, the 50 Shades of Pink Party, a Wet & Wild Pool Party, and the Dinah's Official Closing Party on Sunday, April 1. There are admission charges to each event (these generally run about $35 to $100 a la carte, but you can buy all-access passes for as little as $269), and you buy tickets online at the Club Skirts "The Dinah" website.

Performances in 2018 include Jessie Reyez, Snow Tha Product, Rapsody, Brooke Candy, Madame Gandhi, Ariana and the Rose, Jessie Standafer, Alsace Carcione, and comedy acts Dana Goldberg and Suzanne Westenhoefer.

Host hotels for 2018 include the Hilton Hotel & Spa, The Courtyard by Marriott, the Hyatt Palm Springs, the Renaissance Palm Spring, and the Palm Mountain Resort.

Other Gay and Lesbian Events Nearby

The previous rival promoter (and former joint promoter)  GIRL BAR, which helped establish Dinah Dinah Weekend, moved out of Palm Springs to develop the popular Dinah Shore Weekend Las Vegas. However, after a successful festival in 2017, the production company has decided to suspend the annual event in 2018.

Lucy & Gail "Dinah in Color," on the other hand, has held Dinah events in Palms Springs geared toward women of color and now hosts a new party that takes place in early September, the Palm Springs Women's Jazz Festival. In 2017, the event took place in November during Palm Springs pride weekend, but dates for 2018 have yet to be released. Featuring live performances by a number of top female jazz talents, the Palm Springs Women's Jazz Festival is a great way to spend a fall vacation to Palm Springs.

Dinah Shore Weekend also falls shortly before one of the world's best-attended gay men's events, the Palm Springs White Party, which takes place later the following week, making this time of year quite popular in this gorgeous resort town.

Check local gay papers, such as the Desert Daily Guide and Rage Monthly for details. Also take a look at the GLBT site produced by the city's official tourism organization, the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism.
